“Well Worth the Trip”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

It's not in the center of town, but a definite must see for anyone with any appreciation for the beauty of that comes from the meticulous decoration of such exemplifications of Spanish Baroque Architecture. It doesn't take long to get there nor to see it which makes anyone who went to Guanajuato but missed this church truly deprived.

“Speechless”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

Though it's quite far from city center but it's worth the travel. I took the bus for downtown and paid 5 pesos. It's an adventure to be with the locals. Very friendly . But the church was a wonderful work of art, very intricate wood work. One MuST really see.

“Extraordinary Church”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

This is a church which lies above the town of Guanajuato, the extraordinary thing about it is the fact that all three of the main altars are still original, something which is now sadly rare in Mexico.

“Impressive”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

take the time to make the trip up the hill to Valenciana to see this cathedral & views of the valley. It is lavishly ornate, with gold leaf carved altars & beautiful stonework. You can get the Valenciana bus from near the Alhondiga for 5 pesos, & enjoy the ride with a few hairpin curves:)

“Beautiful Gold Overlays”
Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

Emormous amount of gold used to overlay altars. Interesting artworks on walls. What intrigued me most was the fact that only the wealthy were allowed inside to see the beauty. Ordinary people were not allowed in to worship in colonial days.
