We were looking for a place to have pizza on a Sunday evening while visiting Guadaljara as many pizza restaurants are closed. We found El Bazar and werewelcomed by the staff. We chose to eat outside. Pizzas were 99 pesos for a large. We chose two pepperonis and a Hawaiian pizza. The food came hot and delicious. The three pizzas were enough to fill four adults. The restaurant is connected to an art gallery which made thevenue quite unique. This is a great place to enjoy pizza any time.

As this restuarant is frequently less crowded than its next door neighbour Cafe Libertad myself and a friend went for breakfast one Sunday morning. The fact that it was empty while next door was bustling should have told us something. Service was quick, as we were the only clients, and friendly. I ordered chilaquiles with an egg. When the chilaquiles came what they actually were was totopos out of a packet. Covered in sauce - but with no egg. I asked the waiter where the missing egg was and the cook came out to say it was actually mixed into the sauce. As the sauce certainly did not have the texture or consistency of having an egg mixed into it I was rather annoyed by this attempt at an explanation, and in addition the chilaquiles, which are generally soft in texture often with some little crunchier bits here and there were uniformly unpleasantly crispy due to having just been taken out of a packet. I made a valiant attempt but although chilaquiles can usually be relied upon to be delicious more or less wherever one goes these were just plain nasty.
Both of us having consumed approximately half of our breakfast we came to pay the bill. The waiter was friendly and attentive, but, having paid, no change reappeared. It had actually been my intention to leave the change for the waiter, but after waiting and waiting and nobody appearing and the place giving a good appearance of being deserted, we left. I would have been happy to leave the whole amount as a tip, but him in effect making off with it and helping himself is pretty pathetic. Both of us left feeling annoyed and disappointed by the experience, particularly as the place is beuatifully decorated and was very calm and peaceful on a Sunday morning, which is why we had chosen it. Never again.
I do however regularly visit EL Bazar for a beer and crostini with pesto in the afternoons and it is a pleasant spot, the service is attentive and they occasionally have a craft beer. For that, it's a perfect spot. For food - just go next door.
