“Great Facility, Location and Staff!”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

After all the other comments, all that I can say is that this is a great hotel to stay in. It's perfectly located; you just walk 1-5 blocks to the Cathedral, theater, 450-150 year old buildings, stores, or to the "San Juan De Dios" market to buy candy or souvenirs. The Hotel is clean and spacious. Love the building and its charm. I love the fact that they have wooden floors versus carpet. Staff is friendly and helpful.

FYI:
- The breakfast buffet is really good.
- The spa it is not in the hotel. We ended up not making it, so I can't give you more info.
- There are always taxis waiting outside the hotel to take you anywhere you need to go.
- There is a WalMart about 5 minutes away in taxi.
- Within two-three blocks around the hotel there are pharmacies, money exchange houses, restaurants, a frozen yogurt place...
- Right across the street from the hotel there is a taco place. The tacos are GOOD.
- Outside the church kitty or catty corner from the hotel, they sell mexican bread, tamales and champurrado. YUM!

If I had to point out something...I would say that yes, they could update their bedding, BUT I had NO problems sleeping. Second and last thing, the elevators are not the biggest, but they are clean and work just fine. I would normally use the stairs just because they were nice, and are open to the main layout, like stairs in your home.

I stayed in this hotel this year's September for just one night.
First of all, it is situated in a wonderful location in the historical centre of Guadalajara.
It has a nice decoration, a little bit retro with a piano at the lobby.
The staff at the front desk was very helpful and polite.
My room was very big and not expensive. It was also very clean even though they could upgrade the bed.
Would love to use the spa but i didn't had time.
It will be in my first choices if i ever visit Guadalajara again.

Stayed at this hotel last weekend. Wonderful old, but well kept hotel in the heart of the historical center of town. Easy to walk to all the sights. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again. Only downside...am use to the hard beds in Mexico but the pillows were also hard.

The morales is a beautiful, clean and well located hotel downtown GDL.
The room was clean. The bedding could be updated.
The service was friendly and efficient.
The piano music in the evening entertaining.
The roof top terraza is comfortable on a sultry GDL evening.
Close to all the hustle and bustle of the vibrant colonial downtown.
I will return, the price is right.

Wonderful friendly staff in an older hotel that is clean and classy; even has a pool. Room was great with king-size bed. Couldn't ask for a better location. Within walking distance of all the museums and cathedrals in old town---and the grande mardado, if you like that sort of thing. Warning, Suggest you NOT eat at the hotel! Food really BAD.

Room Tip: Breakfast not so bad. Lunch and dinner. Better off at a cheap taco place!!!!!

Lots of good to say about this hotel: good location, excellent service, beautiful hotel, etc. However, a few things need to be known before booking here.

1. As beautiful as this hotel is, it is quite dark inside the hotel. The main entry area, the hallways, and even the rooms. All give the feeling of a "dark" stay. It is just not an "open " or lit/bright hotel that one may be used to. Something to keep in mind for your stay.

2. The "fitness center "is very ancient. It desperately needs upgrading and some dumbbells with dumbbell racks.

3. The pool area isn't very inviting, is small, and will most likely not encourage you to use it.

4. I believe I was in one of the best rooms there, room 123 (223 and 323 also good), which had two balconies (most have 1 balcony or no windows at all). In my particular room, something was happening whereby I think when a large truck drove by a certain area outside, it would somehow shake my bed. This would subside after around 9 PM until about 6 AM, then start up again as traffic outside began picking up again. For light sleepers, or those wishing to take a nap during the day, this minor rumbling of the bed every few minutes could be annoying. Perhaps asking for a higher floor would help.

Overall, a good hotel and you probably won't be disappointed. However, it might not hurt to look into others in the same price category nearby.
