“Nice place to visit and see Nature!”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

Took the family there for the day to the Rio Salado. The waters are warm and nature abounds. Fishies nibbled at our feet as we relaxed at the waters edge. The kids splashed around in the little pools along the river. It was a good place to cool off and relax. Not sure how far from the city it is since family took us and we went to Tequila first then headed there afterwards. :) Have fun exploring!!

“Unexpectedly nice!”
Reviewed March 30, 2012

Giant forest very close to Guadalajara. Lots of trails for walking or bycicling. It is a very big patch of forest, but if you follow the trails you simply cannot get lost. You can see how big it is when flying into Guadalajara. Caution: during dry season be careful with forest fires.

“A breath of fresh air”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

One of the must-visit places in Guadalajara. Beautiful vistas, hiking paths, flora and fauna. We went on a three-hour hike and brought lunch and saw thirty varieties of trees and birds from as far away as Costa Rica.

“Nature a close, but hidden ways away”
Reviewed December 10, 2011

This is huge forest is the size of Guadalajara, and just next door. But entrances are a bit hidden and harder to get to than they should. Two main public entrances are to the Rio Caliente (hot creek) and Mariano Otero.
The first has lots of families, and is best to do on weekdays to avoid crowds or need to go a good ways down stream (first empty parts of the river can be too hot). It is on the road to Tequila just past Pinar de la Venta.
Second entrance is really aimed at mountain bikers, but there is some wonderful hiking as well.
Other 'hidden' entrances also exist.

“A great time birdwatching in the Bosque La Primavera"”
Reviewed February 14, 2011

Bosque La Primavera is the huge park right outside Guadalajara. The main entrance is off the road to Tequila through the small town of La Primavera. There´s a river called the Rio Caliente (hot river) because of the hot springs that flow into it. You can spend the day there enjoying natural jacuzzis and the beautiful atmosphere. We recently went on a free guided birdwalk. The group met at the Bosque office at Concentro on Via Vallarta near the Periferico, but you could meet the group in the park as well. There were extra binoculars and an excellent guide (who knew the bird names in English), and we saw lots of interesting birds. They take place on Saturday mornings (pretty early). For more information or to sign up, email fleon@bosquelaprimavera.com. The Bosque also has buses that go from the center of Guadalajara to the park on weekends. Check the website for more information.
