Tlaquepaque and Tonala Artisans Tour
Ranked #4 of 183 things to do in Guadalajara

Reviewed March 27, 2012

We spent half a day shopping in Tonala and we only could only do a little bit of
the market. It was on a Sunday morning and all the artesans were selling their
wares at more than half the price for the same in Puerto Vallarta. The selection was
over welming and very well made. I recommend this tour to any one who loves
to shop .

Tonala is a city within the Guadalajara metropolitan area (pop: 374,000). This is a popular stop as it’s where the Artisans of Guadalajara have their shop or set up booths on Thursdays and Sundays to display their art. It’s a giant street market covering several blocks where hand blown glass, hand crafted arts, furniture, any many one of a kind product is found. Prices are unbeatable. This area resembles a cross between Caminito (Buenos Aires) and New Orleans. You will also see an amazing array of wonderful art and artistic architecture on houses and buildings. While you're there, check out some of the unique artwork by Marco Aurelio Reyes.
