“Nice little hotel-brilliant location”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We stayed here in February for five days and enjoyed the location, the simple rooms, the lovely breakfast buffet and the friendly, helpful staff. We enjoyed a bottle of wine on the rooftop patio which overlooked the church next door. The pool is tiny and cool, but a bit of a gem.
Step outside the door and be in the heart of beautiful historic Guadalajara, where the many plazas offer adventure and entertainment every day. The hotel has a simple clear map for the historic centro and can offer lots of useful advice. While not luxurious, it s a splendid little hotel with a five star location.

Room Tip: Ask for one that looks into the interior-quieter. Some on the second floor had a small patio.

During my first trip ever to Guadalajara Mexico in 1990, I stayed at Hotel de Mendoza. It is a very nice hotel and situated near many restaurants, stores, etc in downtown. Very comfortable which has great views. Recommended hotel if your visiting Guadalajara

I have been visiting this venerable hotel for many years and continue to be impressed by the convenience of being so close to just about everything in the El Centro area of town.Whereas the hotel is not fancy by any means, it is a solid, reliable clean property, staffed by attentive and helpful personnel and the big bonus - exceptional value for the price!

Hotel de Mendoza is a nice hotel with character and my experience was enjoyable overall. I held a meeting on a top floor suite and it worked out great - decent space and staff was super. The rooftop terrace is quite nice and offers great views of cathedrals great architecture and the soccer stadium off in the distance. The restaurant was mediocre to poor in my opinion – I would not eat there again but rather go out to eat instead. Rooms were quite nice with a large sunken living room area. I left the windows open at night - it was quiet and cooled the room with fresh air. Shower was a disappointment – low water pressure and the shower was lined up with the sink more so than the tub – made getting wet really wet and keeping the spray in the tub a real challenge.

The hotel is just short walk to Plaza de la Liberacion and 10 mins to Cathedral and Plaza de Armas. The central square/downtown area is safe and clean and offers plenty to see and do. 5 minutes away is the trade center for jewelry so buy some silver. The flea market is just the other side and I grabbed some reasonably priced soccer jerseys for my kids.

It wasn’t cheap by Mexican standards that’s for sure but was a good value overall considering the experience and location. I’d stay again for sure.

Great stay and good value. Rooms were clean, updated and pleasant -nothing too remarkable with amenities but definitely adequate. The staff was very pleasant and helpful --even remembering what each of us liked and disliked with regard to menu. The only negative would be that the beds were incredibly hard. We were 1/2 and 1/2 on that one. We would definitely stay here again.

The Hotel de Mendoza couldn't be better located in the heart of the city's historic district. The hotel itself is average. The room I stayed in was spacious even if the bed was too small for me to sleep comfortably in. It was freshly repainted which was obvious from the smell when I checked in. The air conditioning did not work well, but luckily the nights well cool. The worst part of the room was the shower: there was absolutely no water pressure - I could have had a better shower using the sink. The staff is friendly and courteous and will go out of their way to help you the best they can. I have stayed here before and did not have these problems, so I wouldn't say they're indicative of the hotel in general - I may have perhaps been given a faulty room. I would consider staying here again, but I would insist on checking the AC and water pressure first next time.

Want to go to back to year 1910 :) Old school hotel with excellent staff, service and atmosphire. Room was brilliant, very roomy, old, little "tired" but somehow very friendly. I dont know, go and see yourselves!

Hotel is one minute walk from Plaza de la Liberacion and few minutes from Cathedral and Plaza de Armas.

Very safe to walk everywhere in Centro, lots of police with bicycles :)
