The good parts:
Huge room, free wifi in room, quite clean & comfy, great location, great price, very secure (have to be buzzed in & out).

The bad parts:
Leaky toilet got water all over the bathroom, desk staff not overly friendly/helpful (not rude or anything, they were both just very blah...in contrast to most people we met in Mexico, who were all SO nice!).

Granted we were there in June when it was 90 degrees outside, but we weren't able to sleep. The fan in the room just didn't cool us off. When we tried to sleep with the windows (doors) open, the traffic was too loud. I wouldn't recommend this place to stay when it is hot in Guadalajara.

The room was fun - taller than it was wide or long, and there was a nice view. The lobby/atrium was huge with Internet terminals, but again too hot to linger in. Reservations and check in required Spanish.

The Posada Regis is a great low cost option that could not be more centrally located in Guadalajara. The staff was friendly and helpful; the rooms and hotel were clean and very nice. Also, you can walk out the door and in about 3 minutes be at the Cathedral in the heart of Guadalajara's Centro district.
Try and get a room on the street side with a balcony. Some of the rooms in the back have no window and are really stuffy, and the rooms on the main street with a balcony are really not loud at all. If it gets loud, you can shut the windows and use the fan and there is virtually no street noise at all.
There is no extra charge for a remote control for your TV, you just have to ask for one.
Also, some Taxi drivers may not know where this posada is located because it is fairly small. If this is the case, just tell them that it's across the street from the Hotel Fenix about three blocks south of the Cathedral on Av. Corona and they'll know where it is.
Definitely your best choice in Guadalajara if you don't need a fancy hotel and want to save a little money.

Hotel Posada Regis is an excellent option for travelers to Guadalajara who do not need a five star hotel. The rooms are clean, comfortable but rather dark and plain. The rooms on the street side are noisy, so if you are a light sleeper, ask for one on the other side of the building. The downside to these are that they lack windows and a view. The staff are very helpful and friendly. This hotel is very old and does not have the comforts of a modern hotel. However, when I travel I spend my time out and about and, these do not seem necessary. If you feel that way, this is the place for you.

Great quirky old old place...130 years old. Large high ceilinged rooms arranged around a huge interior courtyard. Pleasant place to stay. Rooms on streetside have balconies opening onto busy street below. So can be noisy, but fun to watch the goings on below. Not without its problems. Up a steep steep flight of stairs up which you must lug your luggage. The first room I was put in had NO faucets on the shower. Hence no shower. Other than that it was a fun place to stay. Staff adequately helpful.

This is a very cute old building in a great location. The room is basic. The bathroom is tiny, tiny, tiny. Right next door is a cafe that has free wireless (which you can pick up from your room). It is a good deal for the price, but don't expect luxury.

This place was so great! It costs around 30.00$ a night and it is located near many landmarks in Guadalajara. The rooms are pretty big with high ceilings. Friendly staff too!!
