We were sorry we could not have stayed longer and gone to a concert here. During our visit there was a soloist practicing and from the sound, the acoustics were excellent.

Thank John M

Almost every night there is something going on at the theater. When we were in Guadalajara, there was a Spanish guitarist in concert, and it was free! Go in and enjoy the many wonderful shows and beautiful architecture!

I entered during the scheduled open visiting hours (12 noon to 2 pm). The entire building, inside and out, was impressive. Inside, the theater was opulent, even with no production in progress. A beautiful chandelier graced the entry. Outside, at the end near the Plaza Tapatio, there is an impressive sculpture and fountain which commemorate the founding of the city of Guadalajara. Truly impressive, all the way around.

I'm a nut for old opera houses. If you are, make sure you get inside to see.

When I was there, there were FREE concerts every Thursday night. Classical music and opera.

You get there early and they give you a pass. Then you wait on line. First on line gets, the first pick of seats. I was towards the end of the line and still got a great seat. There are no bad seats that I could see.

Some nights there is a somewhat quirky artist who set up in front of the theater and creates works based on it. His work is beautiful and if you speak Spanish, he will explain the muses who are represented on the front. Throw him a few pesos. He deserves it.
