“Excellent sound, beautiful theater”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

I have seen two shows there now and that is really the way to see this theater. The sound is incredible. You can be up in the rafters and feel like you are in the orchestra. There is no orchestra pit so some of the seats are right up next to the stage but actually the view is quite good from almost anywhere. The murals on the ceiling and the work on the dividers is gorgeous. Plus there is a lovely little cafe on the side that serves good coffee.

“Worthwhile Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2012

Have visited this theatre many times. Love the old word ambiance. Because it's not too large you can see well from almost anywhere but watch for the location of some of the pillars. The folklorico on Sunday morning is a real treat.

““Beautiful Theatre in Guadalajara””
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

When walking around the historical district, you will definitely come across the Theater Degollado. Unfortunately, the interior was closed when we were there, and no shows were going on, so we did not get a chance to go inside. But the exterior is very beautiful and worth the time to walk around it, and examne the facade, a mixture of classical and colonial architecture.

“The Gala de Mariachi in Teatro Degollado”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

I live already fifteen years in Guadalajara.I have been many times to this theater. It is highly recommended to plan a visit to whatever show. People coming near the end of August and the first week and a half in September should make a serious effort to attend one of the galas de Mariachi in this theater, It is sure worth any penny you spend. The tickets are pretty hefty for Mexican standards and are from a few hundred pesos to almost 2000 pesos per seat. With a dollar now, 3rd quarter of 2012, running around 13 pesos.
There are in this period mariachis from all over the world, visiting and performing in various places through the city. There are even free concerts for the locals. The event is organized by the National Chamber of Commerce of Guadalajara, in Spanish CANACO.
But I highly recommend planing your vacation around this time. The climate is nice and galas are majestic, with the worlds best mariachis and the philharmonic Orchestra of the State.
