“Cortes and Rivera under one roof”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

Just spent the afternoon exploring the Cortes Palace. Really well done museum with lots of artifacts, lots of paintings, lots of insight into the life and history of Cuernavaca. Added bonus was the complete wing with murals painted by Diego Rivera. Most of the descriptions however are written in Spanish.

Beautiful vista's from the balconies of the palace of the rest of Cuernavaca so bring your camera.

There is a series of booth's to buy trinkets and other items sold by locals near the museum entrance and the central park across the way also has options for buying local foods and for just relaxing in a local environment.

Bathrooms were on site and they were very clean. Lots of stairs however and I did not look for an elevator so I do not know if there is one on site.

“Worth checking out”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

Would have enjoyed more, if there had been more in English and possibly even a tape explaining things as one walked around.

“if you like big museums, the Palacio de Cortés”
Reviewed November 28, 2012

i find museums this big too much to take in, too sober, too many labels to read, too many frankly mute objects.

and the Diego Rivera mural is incredibly powerful.

“Diego Rivera Mural”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

This museum boasts a great mural by the artist Diego Rivera, contemperary of Frida Kahlo. The mural is a story and an English speaking guide will help you to identify each section. In the museum there are also several other displays covering Xochicalco, the Mexican Revolution and period of time when sugar was produced in great quantities in this area.
