Bungalows La Madera was a wonderful place to stay. The pool and public area were very well kept. The rooms were very nice, although we spent very little time inside. Charles and Carmina were excellent hosts. We made our reservations for our next visit before we left.

This is not a resort destination, but if you are a fan of bed and breakfast style lodgings, this is one of the finest.

We just spent 2 weeks at Bungalows La Madera, and had a very memorable experience there. We stayed in unit 7 at the hill top location, with a great view of both the ocean and the town from our huge outdoor living room / kitchen. it was nice to have a full kitchen, as we walked to the food market 10 minutes away to stock up on fruit and veggies for most breakfasts and the odd lunch. Mark, the manager, went way out of his way to help us after we foolishly got sucked into buying a timeshare at the Melia resort. We just mentioned to him how we made a mistake, and that we were going to attempt to get our money back. Well, he knew a friend who was an unemployed Lawyer that would help us, so then spent most of his day doing the paperwork and personally driving us to the resort to make sure all went well !! All this just as a favour to us, and not even expecting any payment for either of them- although we insisted on giving the lawyer a generous tip. What great people !! Thanks again, Mark !! Charles, Carmina and all the staff were very helpful and friendly also.
You can also hear the "bun" lady selling fresh buns carried on her hear almost every morning around 9 am, fun to buy from her.
There are 2 common areas to use- one on the top floor of the hill top units- which didn't get used much except for sunset yoga classes, and the odd game of pool. The other common area near the beach was great to use the pool, kayaks, meet new friends and barbeque your catch of the day !! Many of the people we met here usually stay for a month or more- I can see why. We have already booked for next year. Be patient when emailing for info- remember this is Mexico. All in all, a Gem of a place- so only tell your good friends about it !

My husband and I just spent a week here and had a perfect vacation. The bungalows are very well run, clean and ideally located. We loved going to sleep with the sound of the waves and waking up to the beautiful sky. Mark, Carmina and Charles were lovely hosts. We hope to return another year!

We arrived after dark without reservations. Not sure what we would find. The management was very accomodating. We had a bungalow with a city view. It was very comfortable. The roof access has the highest views of Zihua, it was our favorite place. 360 degree views with great breeze.

My husband, daughter, grandson,10yrs and granddaughter, 14 and I spent 21 wonderful days at BLM and had the best vacation in the 13 years that we have been going to Zihua! The staff is friendly and the rooms were very comfortable. We will definitely return in 2011.

Just returned from 3+ weeks on first visit here. Would go back without hesitation. I was in Rm 2 in the new building (only 8 units) and for two nights in Rm 3. Big difference. Rm 2 had great view of the town and adjoining hills, beautiful at night as the lights came on, with lovely breezes. Rm 3 no view, though it faces the bay. There is a building that blocks that view and will feature in all the views facing the bay as it is as tall as BLM. It is a factor even in the view from the fabulous roof top palapa which features a grill, kitchen, bthrm, pool tble and lounge where folks gather for sunset.

BLM is on the top of the hill just above La Madera beach so it is not for people who have trouble with hills. For others it is well located between the town and the most popular beach, La Ropa, each walking distance. Buses and cabs are readily available.

Excellent restaurants just down the short hill-Rufo's, La Gula- plus several places for breakfast and simpler dining - Slavator's.

Excellent firm mattress and silent, effective AC. I found the noise from town pleasant, but closed my doors and windows for real quiet.

Very friendly, helpful management. Their photos are accurate.
