“A perfect place...”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

I want to take the oportunity to thank the hotel staff and owner for the fabolous stay at cinco sentidos during our stay at the begining of July of this year. The room was always clean and fresh, the view from the balcony was fantastic (hamock and splash were a must, every day). The personalized service for breakfast and the miscellaneous amenities during the day surpassed any of my expectations. Breakfast at the hotel was always excellent... really enjoyed the intimate service provided by everyone there. I would definetely go back and enjoy the calm, and solitude this place provides when wanting to get away from any of the traditional tourist destinations.

This was are third time in Zihua and our first stay at Hotel Cinco Sentidos we were there for two weeks in the grand suite . The hotel was outstanding, spotless, well kept , beautiful grounds and pool area . The grand suite was everything that was advertised and more, awesome ! it has a very large and heated plunge pool , huge bathroom , open air living areas and a bedroom with AC the bed was the best we have ever slept on in Mexico . The living area does have a good size mini fridge to keep some cold beverages on hand and the only suggestion I could make it would be nice if the room had a small microwave to heat up a few items .. Heiko and his staff were great and they have thought of every detail to make your time there the best you will ever have .The food Heiko prepares every morning is a joy to start off the day what a great chef he is . What can I say that has has not been said about this place ? all I can say is thank you for the best stay we ever had in Zihua on on vacation ..Kirk and Pam

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Zihua, splitting our time between Cinco Sentidos and The Tides. We spent a week in the Grand Suite and then 5 days over at The Tides so we are in a position to compare the two, as many who plan trips to Zihua surely do. The Verdict? Stay at Cinco Sentidos. Our experience was identical to the gushing reviews that precede this one. Great service, immaculate accommodations, friendly staff, and an unbelievably knowledgeable host in Haiko. That dude knows Zihua like the back of his hand. He helped us find a bar that had NCAA football, order a pizza the night we wanted to stay in, made reservations the nights we went out - anything we asked for was taken care of quickly and graciously.

The internet is very, how you say, Mexican. Especially up in the Grand Suite, but hell, it was our honeymoon and we relished being in the dark.

Can't wait to go back. Thank you Haiko and Araceli for making the honeymoon from my first marriage so memorable.

We were here for the first time in the Spring of 2011 and were VERY impressed with Cinco Sentidos, Heiko, the beaches, the restaurants, and the people of Zihua. For us to return so soon speaks loudly of how we felt after our first visit. This vacation was no different!
Even though we were there during a tropical depression in June, Heiko was cooking away every morning and some breakfasts were served in our room terrace, always 5 star and always served with a smile! One of our favorite moments was sitting out on our terrace every morning early, sipping our coffee, and staring at the bay and the activities that unfolded each day. The view is truly spectacular!
Paty's was our favorite go-to restaurant with the best fish tacos ever, to Chewy on La Madera, best shrimp tacos, to Moses, our Captain, thanks for a great day of fishing and snorkeling! And to all the other friends we made in Zihua, I think we have found our new favorite Mexico beach town, so we thank you, and we will see you soon!

Room Tip: Room #3 has not only a beautiful view of the bay, but of the pools , the breakfast patio, and emacul...

We had booked the Grand Suite as a special treat for our honeymoon and had the pleasure of having the place pretty much to ourselves for a week during the off season in early June. The hotel is just lovely with breathtaking views (I’d highly recommend the view from the infinity pool!) our suite was incredible and we found it hard to leave for any other reason other than to have dinner! Our breakfasts were delightful, huge and inventive with really fresh ingredients, we struggled to finish them the whole time we were there. Heiko is a wonderful host and was on hand for any query we had or any assistance we needed. We would certainly go back tomorrow, it was convenient, beautiful and everything we needed to wind down after our wedding, I would highly recommend it.

We trusted tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. We stayed in room 4. Loved the privacy and the shower windows that open up to Playa la Ropa.

We found the grounds and our room to be immaculate. The breakfasts were huge and of very high quality. Heiko and crew were very friendly and accommodating.

As for Zihua...I highly recommend it if you're looking for more of a rustic and real Mexican experience. It's so much better than Ixtapa, Cancun, PV, etc.

I really can't think of anything to complain or make a suggestion about. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: It appeared that the grand suite and room 4 are the most private.

My husband and I just returned from our trip to Zihuatanejo and Hotel Cinco Sentidos and we were very happy with our hotel choice and the city itself. We heard about this hotel via Trip Advisor and we have found that the reviews of this place are spot-on.

Without rehashing what a lot of people have already commented on, here is what we found to be its best attributes:

• Very private and serene. When we first got there, there were a handful of couples there but for most of our stay, it was only us and another couple so we felt that we pretty much had the place to ourselves.
• Views of the bay and the ocean are fantastic
• Location is perfect to Playa la Ropa. It’s only a few minutes down the road (and yes, it is fairly steep) and you are on the beach and within walking distance to many bars and restaurants. If you choose to go to the beach, you can walk further up the road for other restaurants that have great panoramic views too.
• Heiko and his staff are wonderful hosts. Very accommodating and the place is impeccably clean. It was our anniversary and Heiko surprised us with a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers in our room.
• Heiko’s breakfasts are very good. My husband is a picky eater and not terribly adventuresome when it comes to food but he found something to enjoy each morning. He had more than enough to eat with the daily assortment of breads and fruit.

Other items of note:
• Have the taxi take you to the Commercial Mexicana (imagine a Super Walmart) and stock up munchies and beers or anything else you might need for your stay. Most resorts we’ve stayed in had tiny fridges – not here. This fridge was ample size – enough to fit several beers, water and other things.
• When we wanted beach time, we went to LaPerla. We paid 50 pesos for two chairs and an umbrella and you can order drinks and food.
• Taxis are super cheap - 40 pesos to anywhere. We walked whenever we could but always took taxis back. It’s well worth the money as the walk back up the hill to the hotel is no picnic! Downtown is a fun place to visit with lots of activity.
• There are many high-end restaurants in Zihua but we enjoyed the simplicity and charm of Rufo’s. It’s tucked away on a sidestreet but the food is good, reasonable and they had live music. We found that the people of Zihua to be very friendly and we always felt safe.

We would love to come back someday and wouldn’t hesitate at all to return here. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

Room Tip: We were in Room 4 and LOVED the hammock on the balcony terrace.
