We are just back from a trip to Zihuatanejo. The third trip to this town in the last several years.

The property is beautiful with comfortable rooms, plenty of spaces to sit at and a pool that our son really enjoyed.

The cook is good and prepares a hot breakfast every morning. In the evening, the place hosts a cocktail hour that a few locals attend and it is a chance to enjoy some of the dips, and snacks made in their kitchen.

What set this trip apart from the first two was the opportunity to learn about great local places & activities from the hosts. We tried snorkeling in several great spots and in addition to several tropical fish, saw a manta ray, and sting rays for the first time. We also tried a variety of restaurants in the town (reviewed independently).

The hosts are quite accessible and can guide on food choices, ATMs, getting to places, and activities. We were able to enjoy several local restaurants at good prices, and managed to get to a lot of activities.

Room Tip: The suites are comfortable and have great views of the bay.

Just returned from Zijhua and can report that everything the other reviewers have said is true--and then some. Close up and in person, it's even better than the photos were able to capture. This is a chic, sophisticated, contemporary, spanking new 'boutique' hotel/B & B/retreat with 'thisclose' bay views and unbelievably affordable prices. Yet it's far more intimate and peaceful a setting, nestled on the hillside, than the many hotels & condo's that are built one-on-top-of-the-other.

Each suite feels like it's own private oasis, configured to offer great views no matter which way you turn, owing to the quality, design-savvy construction experience of one of its owners. It is obvious that every detail has been carefully overseen, from its top of the line alabaster fixtures and leather chairs down to the hand-stitched natural coco mats greeting you at the entrance to each suite. With it's soft, linen-like neutral fabrics, elegantly designed built-in's and uncluttered feel, smart wooden detailing with plenty of storage space to spread out in, impeccable bathrooms (many with indulgent outdoor showers), sun-dappled verandas shaded by palapa roofs --perfect for lounging or reading lazily in hammocks during the noonday heat, and its romantic outdoor bar for drinks at sunset--just an arm's length away from the inviting infinity pool overlooking the bay-- this unique spot is one of those rare finds that I almost hesitate even sharing.

The owners are warm and hospitable, their drinks strong, the bar food delicious. The extra-wide panoramic view of the bay--larger than most--with its twinkle of Zihuatenejo's lights as the sun goes down-- is just so magical, you never want to turn in for the night--or leave Zihua! Right now, it's still the undiscovered deal of the season, but I fear, won't remain so for too long.

Room Tip: Right now they are having an incredible sale-- you get twice as much bang for your buck as the compe...

We have stayed in several hotels and condos on the beach of Playa La Ropa, but Casa Solana, a brand new B&B above Las Gatas Beach, is truly an oasis of simple, elegant luxury. The property is built on a hillside overlooking the ENTIRE Zihuatanejo Bay!!! There are 7 guest rooms, 6 with bay views and one smaller room with a garden view. Antonio, the cook, creates simple, yet delicious breakfasts and later you can find him or the owners, Sriram and Melissa, making delicious, fun cocktails for their Happy Hour!! The infinity pool sets the stage for what will be a most memorable experience and many returns to this most remarkable, unforgettable haven....

Room Tip: The 2 upper rooms have a side patio with chaise lounges

This is a beautiful B&B located in Zihuatanejo that is in a private area with great views of the bay. The B&B has incredibly friendly owners and staff who are very accommodating. The rooms are clean, well appointed, and the beds are very comfortable. The chef who prepares breakfast is FANTASTIC. The variety, authenticity, and deliciousness of the breakfast (e.g.--huevos rancheros, tomatillo jam, chilaquiles, and pancakes with cajeta) might have been the best part of my stay there. The owners are very knowledgeable and can provide great recommendations for activities, secluded beaches, and great restaurants in the area.

This B&B is minutes away from the airport and yet private enough that you really feel you have arrived in paradise. I can't recommend this place enough!

Had a wonderful time. Really enjoyed the pool and the lounging area which is great for soaking in vitamin D. Owners/staff are helpful and knowledgable about restaurants, excursions, etc. The rooms are clean and have a comfortable feel. This is definitely a good value. Bonus: Most of the rooms have private open air shower areas.
