It has taken me a few months to finally sit down and write this, but I had to because we had such an outstanding stay in Suite 1 at Amuleto in early December. We were fortunate to be the only guests there and Jacobo attended us very well -- always available and never intrusive. We enjoyed many meals there because the food is really quite good! The menu is extensive and they will do their best to make what you request. I suggest sticking to local specialties -- eggs benedict is a bit of a stretch, although I've suggested to the owner that they perfect this particular dish :-)
We have stayed a few times in a Special Master Suite at La Casa Que Canta which has its own charms (designed by the same architect as Amuleto). I can say that the bed and chairs and day bed are considerably more comfortable at Amuleto ( I used to request extra padding in advance of LCQC visits). It is a smaller hotel, though, and for those wanting beach access or quick rides into town, LCQC might be a better choice, although it's probably no more than 8 minutes by taxi into town from Amuleto. If you want quiet, rest and pampering, Amuleto is the place for it. We had a lovely in-room massage.
We would definitely stay there again and will probably do so in September. One thing I learned going in December is that the sun is low in the sky (it is winter, after all!) so you won't get much sun on your deck during the day. Going in summer or early fall will offer better sunning options.
Five thumbs up for Amuleto!
