I have had the good fortune to dine (breakfast & lunch) on multiple occasions at this pristine (& I mean CLEAN - check out the washrooms!) restaurant. It is staffed by congenial & courteous locals who are attentive to all diners' needs. The food? Mostly dishes that are distinctly Mexican, including pozole on Thursdays! A delightful twist on the enchilada is their Swiss version! This enchalada is topped with flavorful cheese & a tasty tomatillo spicy sauce is a nice addition to its creamy texture. Freshly squeezed juices include what diners expect - the usual citrus ones, which are superb. Try the carrot juice. It is absolutely delicious!
Leftovers are expertly packed upon request, and extra sauce added, if desired. Do NOT be deterred by this jungle location. It is a mere 5 minute walk from the popular La Perla restaurant on nearby La Ropa beach. It is completely safe to walk down the quiet road that leads to it. You may be treated to some unusual sights en route! We often see a wild (& harmless) pig accompanied by his feline friend sauntering down the roadside. This restaurant is just across from Jungle Pizza & next to Candela, both excellent restaurants as well!
So, what are you waiting for?
Bring your appetite & have some fun at La Bocana, a Zihua favourite since 1965.
