We went to Zihua for a wedding, which was held at Villa Del Sol. We did end up spending a great deal of our time at that beach front, massive hotel, which had great views, but we always enjoyed coming back to our little Villa Carolina. The service was amazing and always friendly (much different than everywhere else we experienced in Zihua), and the rooms were enormous compared to Del Sol. We were on the garden level, and the space we had was larger than almost any other hotel room we've been in. The kitchen was definitely an added bonus, as we went to the grocery store in town the first day and stocked up on drinks, bread, cheese, etc. The pool was relaxing, the food was decent (not amazing, but definitely a great value), and the place was an overall great place to stay. Now the quirks. It was definitely noisy. It is right on the main road, so you can hear the trucks rumble by. The most annoying noise however was the staff scrubbing the pool area at 7:30am each morning. We did ask them to stop, and they mostly did, but sound travels very easily in that little villa, so either bring earplugs or sleep with the air conditioning on (which may not even help). Also, since we were on the ground level, we did have tiny ants in our kitchen, so we couldn't leave any food out. It was minimal though, and didn't bother us. Overall, we would definitely recommend VC as a great, reasonably priced place to stay with charm and wonderful service.

My fiance and I stayed at Villa Carolina for two nights with some other friends who met us there. I based my decision off of what I had read on this site from other travelers reviews and I couldnt have been happier. We had family staying at many other places in ZIH and Villa Carolina was by far the best place out of all of them. Its quiet, super clean, the rooms are beautiful (we stayed at the rooms on the pool level.) The staff (Tim, Miguel, Carolina and all) were better then great and we couldnt have been happier or had more fun. Thanks for all the great honest reviews on this site and all the wonderful people at Villa Carolina.

We stayed at Villa Carolina for 6 nights on our honeymoon in a Master Suite. It was beautiful, private, clean, and convenient. We had never stayed in a smaller hotel before, but after staying at the Villa, we will look for hotels like this wherever we go. The room was huge, and fantastic. There was great AC in the bedroom, while the rest of the suite was open air. The beach was very close, along with many beachside restaraunts. Service was wonderful, and Zihuatanejo itself is relaxing, clean and friendly. We'll be back soon!

We stumbled into Ziwa early in the morning after taking a bus all night and not really sleeping. We were not sure where we were going to stay. After searching from an internet cafe, we decided to give Villa Carolina a shot. We showed up on their doorstep and were greeted by an accommodating Carolina. Too tired to fully soak in our surroundings, we took a room, expecting to stay one night.

By the time we took a shower and rested a bit we could see that Carolina's was someplace very special. For one thing, the room was very nice and kept impeccably clean. There were nice touches like hibiscus flowers laid out on our always fresh towels. There is a kitchen if you want to do your own cooking, but with such great, inexpensive room service and great restaurants nearby, there's really no need. The gardiner is meticulous and keeps the pool very, VERY clean.

In fact, the pool was our favorite part of our stay at Carolinas. It was so beautiful, so clean, and the water was always the perfect temperature. We stayed in room 3, right next to the pool with a little porch screened off by plants and a lovely little outside dining area where we had our breakfast (the french toast is great!). It is such a small place, and felt very private, even with the few other guests. Also, because we were right next to the pool, it felt like an extension of our little "apartment."

We paid $155 a night. There are more expensive rooms upstairs with their own jacuzzi, but we did not feel like we needed more than we had, especially with the pool right outside our door. Also, the beach (Playa Ropa) is a very short walk- only one block, and I did not feel like we needed to be any closer. It was quiet and very peaceful. A cab to the center of Ziwa is only about $3. After going in for a meal or to wander and experiencing all of the activity and bustle of town, it was a relief to come home to the tranquility of Villa Carolina.

So the moral of our story is that we only intended to stay one night and then move on, but then every day we were so comfortable we decided to stay another night. We stayed four nights total.

It turned out to be one of the nicest places we stayed in Mexico, and a very good value for the relatively inexpensive rate. We would definitely return next time.

II would like to thank Tim, Carolina, Miguel and the entire staff of Villa Carolina for their exceptional service during our recent vacation. My son and I presented some unique problems for the staff and they were always most helpful. The best way to explain it is that you feel like part of their family. They hotel is beautiful and perfectly maintained. I cannot say enough about this hotel. We have been to many resorts in Mexico and have never a more rewarding hotel experiance.

We recently spent 10 days at Villa Carolina in Zihuatanejo, and I have nothing but praise for this lovely hotel. First, the staff is gracious, professional and friendly. The moment we arrived, Miguel and Jose ran to greet us with enthusiasm. I knew that we had chosen the perfect place to spend a vacation. All of the men and women who work at Villa Carolina were wonderful, and I was both impressed and embarrased by how hard they work--all day long. Miguel was always available to answer questions and provide suggestions, and I appreciated his many recommendations.

Our garden suite was beautiful! The suite was immacuate, spacious (about the size of two standard hotel rooms) and peaceful. The room is tastefully decorated with interesting arts and crafts, which made it feel like a home rather than a hotel room. The patio area right outside the suite is like having an extra room because it is enclosed by large plants which provided just the right amount of privacy. The patio area had lawn chairs and a dining room table, so we were able to enjoy numerous breakfasts and lunches outdoors.

Villa Carolina is only a 2-minute walk to the beach, and I was actually grateful not to be on the ocean. Rather, it felt like a peaceful oasis from the crowds. The atmosphere of Villa Carolina is very intimate and relaxing, a true home away from home. At night we could still hear the water, so it was the best of both worlds. Like most vacations, it was hard to leave.

I completely recommend this hotel! You will not be disappointed!
