Accidentally walked into this restaurant the first friday of it's opening... a few years ago...
Had dinners 3 nites a week the first trip to Aihuatenejo - each year on return have been
back with many friends.... the quality of food, the kindness and fineness of service cannot
be found anywhere else in Zihuatanejo... as usual cannot remember the Matrede's name
but for some reason for the past "x" number of years they remember us and their quality
of standards has been maintained..... Looking forward to at least 4 dinners end of
January 2014 while we are in Zihuatanejo. Allan & Dennis

“Definitely!”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

El Agave was one of the best places we ate during our 7 day trip to Zihua. We were, admittedly, a bit leary at first because we were the olny people in the whole restaurant, but this was also becuase it was midweek just before the first week of the crazy rainy season when most places are closed. El Agave has a high ceiling and is on the second level with the side overlooking the street open. This provides a great view of the hustle and bustle below without removing you from the wonderfully tranquil environment of the restaurant itself. The owner was our server that night and he was very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Mahi-Mahi was the catch of the day so we both ordered this, prepared two different ways. Freekin Excellent!!! The meal, the service, and the atmosphere are all top notch at El Agave! Do yourself the favor and have dinner here one night, you will love it!

“Not sure what all the excitement is about”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

Agave came highly rated, but was a disappointment after hearing so many great comments about it. The food was okay, but nothing special.

“Dining oasis above an active street”
Reviewed April 18, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I took our children here and had a really enjoyable experience. Don't let the street scene turn you away, once upstairs it is a beautiful retreat with great presentation and food. The setting is refined and casually elegant and the service is outstanding. The margaritas are freshly handmade and some of the best we have had here. Although there is no children's menu they are happy to make half orders which were all eaten by the end. My wife had the fajitas and really liked them, I had a chicken dish with pineapple that was good. Dessert was a mango cream that I loved and butterscotch crepes that my wife ordered (which sounded like they could go either way) but were outstanding. All told (inclusive of 20% tip) four entrees, two rounds of drinks and dessert for all was $80 US. Great value for the experience. (Note: it is not open for lunch at this time but opens at 4pm)
