Description: We are a family business for over 20 years we were located within the Airport Zihuatanejo, the business was called "Snack Bar - El Mirador"; but in 2008 we decided to leave the anonymity and moved to town with a new "Carmelite Cafe" concept. The mission of Carmen and Don Jesus was always clear, offer our customers the best dining experience in Zihuatanejo. During these years we have been aware of the importance of treating our guests like family. We pride ourselves everyday to trust Cafe Carmelites to treat at home; therefore, we insist that the recipes of Mrs. Carmelita, always keep the flavor of the Mexican family kitchen. We will always have an eye to providing the best quality in each of our dishes; leaving aside, a friendly smile and a humble to serve our customers heart. We cook for you like for our own home, without shortcuts, no frills, with love.

We read about Carmelitas on Trip Advisor. After quite a walk, we found it and loved it. I had the "Motulenos Eggs" which were to die for and my hubby had an mushroom omelette which was very good. The menu is not in English but the very helpful wait staff will help explain everything. We want to go back for lunch before we leave and try the pork ribs. We were the only non-Mexicans in the place and it was very full, so that is always a good sign. I got my picture taken with Carmelita. Definitely eat here! Very reasonable prices. Breakfast and lunch only. Wonderful!

This is a Zihua treasure. We went there since it was rated #1 on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. Actually we have gone twice now. This is a low key, family run breakfast place.
Despite sitting right on a busy street, it is bright and airy and they have oriented the restaurant interior away from the street and you look out on a more rural and peaceful tropical setting.
The service from Carmalita and her family is the best. Everyone goes the extra mie to make you comfortable and to help you decided what you are going to order from their very large menu.
It is easy to order, however, because everything is good. The only questions are: 1) what taste experience do you want at that moment? and 2) how hungry are you? Their portions tend to be large! Despite all the wonderful entre's, what I think about most when I am anticipating going back to Carmelitas are the home made pastries that you get to pick from a large basket that is brought to the table. Oh my they are sooooo good. One or tow of them, a glass of fresh squeezed juice, and a cup of coffee and I am happy.

Last day in Zihua so a hearty lunch was a must!!!! Friends took us there for a farewell lunch, and what a place!!! We had our fill with the best chicken enchiladas, pork ribs, chile relleno with passion fruit juice to wash down everything!!! Can't wait to return next year!

Relaxing and friendly. Carmelita greeted us and the staff was very friendly. Our food was wonderful and it was nice to enjoy breakfast in a friendly relaxed space that did not feel so touristy. We had excellent huevos motulenos which were a special on the chalk board that day. Get them if they if you can.

This place was recommended by our hotel la casa que canta. Great recommendation. I had chicken taquitos mmm so good. They have delicious sweet bread and coffee. Carmelita greeted us while we were eating and was so friendly. Had some molletes and husband had pork ribs in salsa verde. Wow so delicious. This place is a must for breakfast or lunch in Zihua and for those that want homecooked local food. We went twice in our four day stay. It will be a definate place to eat at each time we get Zihua.
