Description: Owner/chef Israel Salazar continues to explore and expand the culinary options in Zihuatanejo. Using only first quality ingredients, he creates special dishes that are available nowhere else in town. Israel is widely known for his Thai creations, but he lavishes the same attention and care on his Mexican and Italian offerings. His attentive, bi-lingual floor staff, amazing food, and full bar will make any evening at El Murmullo one to remember.

The Thai salad and Thai stir fry made my taste buds do the boogie! Truly divine! We went back a second time and ordered the same meal. Our friend said the mussels were also excellent. This is a small local street side restaurant that serves gourmet food. We highly recommend it if you are in Zihua and worth a trip from Ixtapa as well.

Found El Murmullo in the pedestrian area of Zihuatanejo. What a shock to find this east-west fusion of local ingredients and Asian influenced food. Very reasonably priced and delicious. Tried the curry and pad Thai - both of which were excellent. If you are looking for a change from the ordinary while in Z-I head here for a great meal.

I'm surprised to see the prior review - clearly someone with expectations that were way off. I've never been disappointed with the staff, service, excellent fresh food. This is a place where local expats go and take their visitors. If the evening is slow, Israel, the chef, will make you something special.. Last visit I had an unusual Thai salad with peanut sauce, and muscles with bacon and white wine. For a small place, the wine list is excellent also. Go!!!

Very nice small place. By far the absolute best bathrooms in town. We had excellant service and the food was pretty good. We tried 2 different things. Had the chicken parmesean which was very good but I prefer spicy food and also what they called stir fry. The stir fry was excellant!!!!!

I'll start with the positive. Service was good and the chef was friendly. Small, but good ambiance. However, it is not a cheap place to eat by any means and for the prices, we were very disappointed with the quality and portions. I was really excited about eating here after all the great reviews. Unfortunately, very few in our party were happy with their meal. Expect very small portions, including the expensive drinks. $60 pesos for pina coladas and margaritas. Tasty, but small in size. The Italian meals had the smallest portions and were around average tasting. Not at all worth the prices. The chicken parmesan was dry and nothing to write home about. It included a side of mashed potatoes and vegetables. The side of mashed potatoes for one plate was about 1/4 cup in size, with maybe 1/4-1/3 cup of vegetables. This cost around $120 pesos. Their alfredo was something they put their own twist on. For me, it wasn't what I would call "alfredo". Not quite the taste I was looking for and the portion was very disappointing for the price. But, that is a personal preference. The Pad Thai was the biggest disappointment. That is one of our most favorite foods. The portion was a lot better than the Italian dishes, but once we tasted it, again, disappointment. The noodles were undercooked and hard to chew (not al dente) and the flavor was very weak. It also lacked the proper balance of sweet, salty, sour and spicy. We were disappointed and especially so when we received the bill. For our table of five, no appetizers, only a meal each and a drink, we are looking at around $1000 pesos. We barely had enough food to satisfy us. If the portions were bigger and the food tastier, we wouldn't have complained. We are very sad to say we will not be going back, especially since we are such big fans of Thai food.
