“Year after year amazing seafood”

I've eaten here for years. The owner is a great guy. The shrimp, red snapper are always great options. Fun environment to have dinner and entertaining people watching.

“you want lasange !!!”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

by far the best tasting lasagne I have ever eaten !! the taste and texture were incredible , I can t believe this in small town zih kudos to the chefs !! also another spectacular hit was the tuna sashimi so fresh and rolled in sesame seeds . menu is very good and varied lots of choices for fish you wont find a lot of traditional Mexican dishes , good place to take a break from Mexican food .
seating is at the back courtyard with trees and plants around and fans going to provide air movement very nice !!

service was excellent

only thing that marred the end of a amazing meal was a group a ladies who sat down a chained smoked while others were trying to enjoy their food how rude !!!

“Great Coconut Shrimp”
Reviewed March 13, 2014 via mobile

El Mediterraneo is a good restaurant choice in Zihua. My wife loves coconut shrimp, and has tried them in many restaurants in both Ixtapa and Zihua. Hands-down Mediterraneo wins the coconut shrimp contest. In addition, they have a great selection of pastas, meat and fish which we've enjoyed.

“Very impressed”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

We ate at this restaurant last year and enjoyed a good meal then. This year we returned and were even more impressed. My husband particularly wanted a linguini vongole and asked if it would be possible to have this made. The waiter listened carefully to what my husband wanted and hey presto he got exactly what he wanted and it was perfectly made.

We started with the chicken which came with a peanut sauce and the parmesan aubergine. Both were delicious and my main course, which was lasagne was freshly made and perfect.

We were very impressed with the restaurant's flexibility. They seem to bend over backwards to make sure that you enjoy your meal and are very helpful in describing and recommending the dishes on the menu. Nothing seems to be too much trouble.

The waiters are extremely professional, helpful and friendly. We ate in the courtyard at the back of the restaurant which is very romantic

“Hits the trifecta--food, service, value.”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Sorting your way through Trip Advisor reviews is a bit like walking through land mines. If you are a 1% diner, you endure comments such as "too expensive" or "pricey" for truly gourmet meals. And if you are on a budget, you have to de-code some of the comments to avoid sticker shock on arrival. We found Mediterraneo to be exemplary in Zihuatanejo at capturing the best of both worlds. The quality of our meals (it was the only place we returned to 3 times in two weeks) was consistently fabulous. Comments about the quality of the fish and especially the tuna are spot on-- you won't find better. The prices are at most about 50 pesos more than surrounding establishments but still very reasonable and you get an unquestionably better meal for that difference. Staff is friendly and Pepe who takes the orders is really excellent at giving recommendations and explaining the nuances of various dishes. It can be confusing as you walk the town and beach looking for that perfect place, but do yourself a favor and pay attention to the many that have given this place such high kudos. It truly is a great meal with great service at a value price point.
