Went for dinner on our first night in town to one of our perennial favourites in Centro Zihuatanejo. Started with one order of eggplant parmesana (ordered on every visit), and two mixed salads (good). We had hoped to have tuna, but not available this night. Opted for two orders of mahi mahi, good size, nice and moist. One order with garlic and one with tomato sauce. Both were excellent. The third order was chicken parmesana. It is very good here, just the right amount of cheese and tomato sauce and a tender moist breast. All washed down with a bottle of Chilean Sauv Blanc. Owner Julian and host Leo are very personable and provide good service and value. The new location on Calle 5 de Mayo also has more ambience than the previous one. The Mediterraneo is a consistently good place to dine in Centro Zihuatanejo.

Good food choices. We had grilled mahi mahi and a few pasta dishes. I have had better fish but the pasta dishes were very good with generous portions. Service was outstanding with accommodation for all our custom requests.Prices were also reasonable and much better than at or near our resort.

I wouldn't order the pasta again but the experience was enjoyable. Chat with your waiter (who is probably the owner) for an inside scoop on his restauranting career. It's pretty interesting! Great coconut shrimp and fish options on the menu. The inside of the restaurant is also an art gallery.

We've been coming to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo for over 20 years and we always stop here for at least two dinners. They moved last year to larger quarters but the food and service remains consistently good. We always order the prosciutto and melon appetizer and then usually get the tuna sashimi entree. Always fresh, always delicious.
