Four of us foodies went to La Gula last night. A bit hard to find, but near our hotel. Upon entering second floor dining room, we saw a large room with an exposed kitchen with 3 chefs. Lovely. We ordered drinks, one appetizer, 2 salads and four entrees. We waited and waited for the appetizers and salads. The smoked fish appetizer was delish, and the hearts of palm/coconut salad was interesting and unique. Shrimp dish and Pescado Soleado were excellent, if a bit fussy. Desserts of ice cream and baked bananas were simple. I think the restaurant should be higher up on the Zihua list than it is...certainly among the top ten. The menu is a bit odd (see for yourself) but the place is worth it, IMHO.
