We stayed at Villa Mexicana over thanksgiving week. We never left La Ropa beach. We had breakfast included with our stay, which included coffee a choice of fresh orange juice or a fruit plate, different choices of egg dishes with toast. Aways a great way to start off our day right on the beach. The rooms are simple and aways clean, with 2 beds and bath, tv and ac. The location is key, having the ocean right out your front door. Very frendly helpful staff. We love this place and have been coming here for years and will continue coming. Best place in Zihue for the location and value.

Room Tip: We like the second story with ocean view.

This hotel is a good location on the beach in Zihuatanejo with friendly staff and clean rooms. The rooms are nothing fancy and the air conditioner is too intense. Try to get a room with a view of the ocean because our room faced a bunch of air conditioners on the roof and the street. The price is better than some of the fancier hotels along the beach. They have a pool and lots of lawn chairs facing the ocean.
You can walk along the beach from the hotel and up a set of stairs toward town, which is nice.
Ulysses who works at the front desk is very helpful. He gave us good recommendations and was very friendly. He also helped us when we came back from snorkeling to use a shower after we had already checked out.
Unfortunately I woke up from my second night at this hotel with tons of bug bites, so they should check that out.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms above the kitchen or facing the street. Get a room with a view of the ocean!

We were so pleased with this hotel. There were 5 of us travelling; excellent rooms and excellent service. Lots of restarurants right by the hotel, the beach is clean and everyone is very friendly. One thing i would recommend is having your reservation confirmation in your hand. When we wre checking in it took a long time to find the reservation. Then at one point during our stay (we stayed 2 weeks) one of the members of our group was asked to vacate her room for another traveller. They told her that she didn't have a reservation for that night. Luckily we were able to find the reservation on e-mail (I know, we should all travel with the paper) and they allowed her to stay. So trouble in that area, show your reservation. It makes it that much easier.

Its a nice family hotel with the best location on La Ropa beach. If you don't have a car, the taxis are 1 minute away. Directly on the beach, never problems with beach chairs, 4 medium to small pools, the restaurant offers good but not sophisticated food with the same prices as nearby restaurants there are several nearby. Big rooms with well thought open closets and space to organize your things. Only be carefull with the room prices. They have 3 types of rooms with ocean or garden view, with or without balcony or taresse. in Hoteles.com only a picture of a room with ocean view (which is very beautiful through palm trees over the whole bay) was shown, and we booked it because of the big balcony. When we came over there they wanted to charge us extra for the ocean view and balcony. But we could demonstrate by the text of the reservation that there was no hint of different room types and they accepted their own error. We did not pay more and they attended us very well. The rest was a very nice relaxing stay,

Room Tip: Take upstares rooms, they have very nice views, but if you have smaller children you may prefer down...

June 14-24 2012 stay. We have traveled all over Mexico and were looking forward to relaxing pool and ocean floating time. Grounds are clean, personnel are friendly. The reception area is lacking in being able to assist with area information or phoning area attractions etc.. The beds are very uncomfortable, but it is Mexico and you will pay $$$ for a place with a Sealy. The staff does not enforce the adults only pool rule and there will be many folks actually eating in the pool. On busier days you will notice that you are marinating in a mix of skin, food, hair, and other unidentifiable items in the pool. All in all, still kind of relaxing and little disgusting at the same time. It seems like the bar prices change depending on who is working?? Now for the extremely disturbing part... There is a street to the left of the property (facing the ocean) that serves as drainage during heavy storms; this also has a row of shops down the center of it with a restaurant to the side. On our last day the sewer system overflowed raw sewage directly on this street and drains / leaches onto the beach area directly in front of the resort ocean swimming area. We were escorted by a gentleman taking us to the restaurant directly through the path of the sewage and my wife accidentally stepped in it!!! We both wretched and politely turned down the opprotunity to dine amongst the sewage. We know the sewers occasionally overflow in Mexico and have seen it many times, the disturbing thing is that this right where the beachfront restaurant operates and where we swam when we were there. If you want to avoid questionable pool cleanliness and the possibility of sewage surfing/ swimming, you may want avoid this area??

Room Tip: 1401 has view without the extra charge

stayed 3 nights 8-11 june. have to check out tv remote, towels, and parking pass, but once
you do that, all is well. we paid the $18 or so per night extra for a view. downstairs rooms have
kings and upstairs rooms have 2 queens.......but was ok bc view was awesome!
the restaurant is so-so, so unless included in your rate, i would go next door to Paty's. food there
is made with love and very reasonable. they have happy hour 2 for 1 from 5-7 most days..
nice beach and not crowded. also had $16 massage at the beach that was excellent.
had our own cooler and kept it iced up.
would definitely go there again!!!!

Room Tip: we had room 1415. quiet end with great view thru palm trees.

Right on the best beach and only 40 peso to town. Clean and well kept. Everyone was cordial and accomidating. We had a $47 per special and requested ocean front rooms downstairs (+ $20 and well worth it). The restuarant was excellent-accomidating and great menue. The surf was good for swimming and we almost always experienced a nice breeze off the ocean. We relaxed in their calm pool on the beach sipping a variety of drinks and snaking on great food.
If you want expensive glitz and glitter, this NOT the place. If you want to get-a-way and relax, the Mexicana is perfect. We would think of staying no-other-place.....enjoy!

Room Tip: Roberto's in town for jewlery and air conditiong. Just take a cab at the airport. They are all...
