Definitely go here! And go early because the beach closes around 4. If you stay on Playa Ropa then you can just walk here. its a little rocky so bring appropriate shoes, but definitely walkable. Its a pain to go into town to catch a water taxi. also, water shoes are good for swimming at the beach. The sand was white and the water was a beautiful clear blue. I recommend going all the way to the end of the beach, there are alot less people. We felt like we had the beach to ourselves. Go to the pink umbrellas, restaurant Otilia. Franco is the host/waiter. He's awesome and will even take great pictures of you, posing you with the best views. When we got home we also saw pictures on our camera of us in the water, they were such great candids and Franco had taken them while we were swimming! Oh and the pitcher of lemonade is delicious.

This was the best part of my trip in zihuatanejo. When we arrived to the beachwe were greeted by this guy named Miguel aka El Negro. He offers a snorkeling tour that is AMAZING and inexpensive. His family own a restaurant called princessa. The tour was very personalized and u see sea creatures that u would never imagine. There is also a statue of Christ under the water and Miguel helps u reach under the water and takes pictures of u touching the statue. Later we went to find a place to eat. If u like sea food, this is the place for you. I don't like sea food so I just had a piece of steak. The best part of my trip here was snorkeling. I've done snorkeling in Mexico, but nothing like this.

Whatever you do, don't get tricked into a taxi ride by the drivers inside the airport. We paid $50 for a cab ride, breakfast and a trip to Playa Las Gatas. We never made it to the beach. The whole thing was a trick to get us into a timeshare meeting at another resort. Apparently the beach is pretty nice.

We took a water taxi across the bay to this lovely beach. You'll pick up a water taxi at the city pier - they run from 8am to 5pm. The ride gives you a great overview of the bay and a look at other communities on the bay. Las Gatas has many small beach-side restaurants vying for your business. Choose one and claim one of their beach lounge chairs for the day. A reef protects the beach from waves so take a dip in the clear shallow water or do some snorkeling. If you go for a walk along the shore, at the far end you'll find Las Gatas Beach Club which is now a nature preserve. Sitting on the beach with a margarita, enjoying the gorgeous view of Zihua across the bay...what a perfect day! Here's a photo of the strolling musicians.
