This place was amazing. Clean and immaculately groomed and kept grounds! Courteous and very friendly staff, who understand what the guest experience and guest service is all about.
Marcos at the Bar, Eddie on the beach, and so many other staff members went above and beyond to make it fun, enjoyable, and an overall great experience.

Room tip: amazing views and sounds of the Ocean

Despite any number of name (and ownership?) changes, it remains as it has been for at least the past ten years -- beautiful setting, excellent accommodations, great food, and top flight service from a friendly, professional staff. Being part of Hyatt doesn't seem to have had any impact, but the number of single rooms not in use suggests future renovations are likely. Meanwhile, don't hesitate to visit.

I stayed for 8 days in a king Bedroom with Plunge Pool. The bed was so comfortable! I would wake up, get room service, take a nap, wake up, hop in the plunge pool for an hour then head to the beach for lunch and swimming till just after sunset. I was looking to unwind from a busy end of year at work and I did that and then some so effortlessly at the resort. Juan, Alejandro, Hector and Maria are star staff! Foods a little pricey for what you get but delicious nonetheless. I’m planning another trip back in October. Well done Thompson!

I celebrated my 50th birthday in Zihuatanejo this year. The Thompson was an absolutely perfect location to for enjoying sunset dinners on the beach with 19 of my friends and family. We enjoyed every minute from our beach brunch to literally a sunset dinner on the beach. Their chef and wait service were perfect and Nina helped with every little detail.

Stayed for two nights as we ended our 2 week holiday in this area of Mexico. Lovely property, great pools and beach side. We splurged for the beach front room with a plunge pool and it was great. Only complaint from our group is that the food in both restaurants was average at best. The nicer of the two restaurants has a very complicated menu. Every dish has an overload of ingredients overwhelming the plate. We found this to be the same at breakfast. Too many flavors going into one plate. I ended up ordering off of the children's menu. The other night we tried to eat at the more casual restaurant and arrived to find out it was an all you can eat taco night, again with too many ingredients in each taco, making it not enjoyable. There was no notice of this special dinner in the hotel lobby or on a paper in the room. Had we know we could not order off the menu, we would have planned to go someplace else. We will return for sure, but we will plan to eat off property for all meals in the future.
