We just returned from our stay at La Casa celebrating our anniversary. The service is first class, the food is out of this world and the entire property is immaculately maintained. The suites are all beautifully decorated and all designed to provide total privacy. The views and the "singing" of the waves crashing below your room 24/7 give this place a totally unique draw. Can't wait to return again next year.

We enjoyed a fantastic couple of days at the Casa Que Canta on our honeymoon. Couldn't have asked for better service, and a beautiful view of the bay. Lovely infinity pool. We went in September (the "rainy season") and the last night, we had the entire hotel to ourselves. They kept the restaurant open for dinner just for us. So serene and relaxing. Highly recommend it for a romantic getaway!

It was our 45th wedding anniversary, and we felt like we deserved a little splurge. This place truly delivered. We booked a Master Suite and loved every moment of our stay. We almost gasped when Laura showed us to our room because of the private pool, exquisite accommodations, the huge view, the books, and the delightful complimentary tequila. We felt coddled right away! We ate at the hotel restaurant all four nights because we couldn't imagine a better setting or better service. Every meal was a treat. Highlights were the seafood posole, the combination appetizers, and for breakfast, the lime pancakes. Although it was hot and humid, our A/C worked overtime and we were always comfortable. The town is quaint and comfortable with some quite interesting shopping. We also really enjoyed our day at Playa Ropa which is an easy walk from the hotel. We're already saving to go back!

Room Tip: Our Master Suite #19--Juana Gallo--was exquisite in every regard. The privacy was entrancing. Get...

La Casa Que Canta
My wife and I made our first trip to Zihuatanejo and stayed at La Casa Que Canta from April 21 to April 26. We rate LCQC 5 stars because it met our expectations in every regard.
Late April is low season so we felt like the resort was our own private villa (only about 5 of the 25 rooms were occupied while we were there). We were in a grand suite in the Mer section with a lovely view of the Zihuatanejo bay. The crashing waves took some getting used to since the rock formations of the cliff the resort is built into cause about every 10th wave to sound like a cannon blast, but we soon adjusted – and later found our bedroom at home too quiet. The rooms are very spacious with lots of storage and layout space. Excellent WiFi is available (without charge) throughout the resort including the pool areas.
The Casa is located an easy walk North to the town and the steep elevation change is equivalent to 5 minutes on the Stairmaster at the gym. Likewise the Casa’s access to the beautiful Playa La Ropa to the South is very convenient and simple. We felt very secure in Zihuatanejo and never had cause for concern for our safety.
We ate three dinners at the resort’s restaurant and found the food and presentation to be delicious. Naturally, the freshly caught red snapper was a delight, served on a banana leaf with a picante pineapple relish.
The staff at La Casa Que Canta were very professional, yet friendly and always helpful. We enjoyed being greeted by Irving every day at the pool where he settled us in and ensured we had everything we needed for a pleasant day. There is no need to carry extra cash for tips as 10% is automatically added to the room, food, and drink charges. Although we were never prompted, we added an extra gratuity to our bill in honor of the exceptional service we had received during our stay.
When we return to Zihuatanejo we will certainly stay at La Casa Que Canta.

Room Tip: We enjoyed room #7. We find we like to use the main pool as opposed to the plunge pools that come w...

This hotel is beyond special, from the staff to the rooms, to the setting, it has all been done well. The staff makes you feel they are there just for "you". The atmosphere is very tranquil, and you can unplug quickly. There is no bad view from any place in the hotel. I very much enjoyed the work out room, equipment was new and again the view from my treadmill was stunning. We had a room with a private pool however the salt water and main pool are stunning as well. I've been to many resorts and this little gem is now on the top of my list... we will be going back next year. Also,I found the town to be charming, the people lovely and most of all we felt safe. I can't say enough, other than GO, you'll love it as much as I did.

Room Tip: ours was number 10...

We've spent many years traveling to Mexico, starting in Cabo San Lucas back when there was no marina and a soccer field stood where the run down Plaza Las Glorias now sits. We've been all over Baja, most of the upper Pacific Coast, and from Cancun, to Cozumel to Ascension Bay. So we thought it was time to finally visit Zihua, and thanks to the off the charts experience we enjoyed at Casa que Canta we can't wait to go back.
This is a small luxury hotel that reminded us of the original Palmilla Hotel back in the 1980s, but on a smaller more intimate scale, and built on six or so levels into the volcanic rock overlooking Zihua Bay and the Pacific beyond. You arrive up high at the lobby level (also the level of the well-quipped gym), to be greeted by a super friendly staff, then you are escorted down the stairs to your room if you are staying in the western wings. Access to most rooms is without elevator so you descend and climb a lot of stairs but its all worth. To the east side there is an elevator that goes down to the small but elegant spa, and when you enter here, you get an idea what paradise smells like. But back to the rooms. We suggest requesting a room on the pool and pool restaurant level. The infinity-like pool is a heavenly place to relax, keep cool, eat, drink, sleep, read, and just gaze out at the bay and ocean. You can sit around the pool, or in private little alcoves scattered around and below with super comfortable lounges, tables and umbrellas. We seem to keep getting distracted from the rooms, well, we stayed in a Grand Suite and we felt grand indeed. In spite of what you know is outside....pool, beach, tons of water sports, great restaurants, nightlife, it's hard to leave your room. Lots of hotels talk about "attention to detail", but we've never seen a hotel do it this well, from the way the towels and amenities are prepared in the sprawling bathroom and dressing room, to the fresh flower art created each day on your king size bedspread. Large bedroom with small balcony, built in desk, and a covered outdoor living room, covered terrace and then open terrace that drops straight off to the blue green bay. But physical description does not embrace the "feeling"; just so tranquil, mind-releasing, that you just seem to be smiling all the time. We definitely suggest ordering room service for breakfast and eating outside on your terrace listening to the waves swirling around the rocks below. And lunch at the pool restaurant is delicious and fun; fresh grilled fish, guacamole, ceviche, quesadillas, etc. And we loved the waiters, fun guys, always entertaining, and though they speak some English, if you speak Spanish you can have a blast with them, joking around and getting the inside scoop on Zihua.
At night there are many excellent restaurant choices and the desk staff can arrange a taxi to meet you out front. Same if you want to go into Zihua, though you can walk in the day around the long town beach. Zihua is still cool, not spoiled like Cabo or Ixtapa or many other places, so fun shopping, good casual restaurants. We did take a taxi to Ixtapa one day to look around. Would never stay in Ixpata, which is about 15 to 20 minutes from Zihua, but they do have good shopping (amazing selection of tequilas, plus good prices on silver jewelry), and some good restaurants for lunch. Dinner, no way, why leave the amazing choices in Zihua. And speaking of that, no matter what we did or where we went, returning to Casa que Canta was like returning to perfection. Gracias y nos vemos pronto.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, but we suggest a room on the main pool level.

Fantastic Boutique Hotel! Extended our Stay!! Gorgeous Ocean Views, private pool in your suite. We were upgraded into the "Owner's Suite" on the 3rd floor (only room on that floor). It has 3 different seating areas on the huge balcony and amazing ocean views. Note: no elevator, so there are 84 steps, my husband counted....Then we extended our vacation and stayed a few nights in another suite on the 1st floor with a private plunge pool. The hotel staff was exceptional. They even offered to send someone into town, because I was craving diet 7up and they didn't have it. Casa Que Canta has 1 outdoor restaurant. The dining tables have incredible ocean views and its open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A plus is the free mini fridge in your room that they stock daily as you wish. Another plus, because its a small hotel, we had room service daily for breakfast and it arrived in less then 15 minutes. They have a small gym, which was enough to get your workout in. Note: no direct beach access. You have to walk thru a locked gate and then you are 15 steps to the sand. There are restaurants right there on the sand you can relax at. The hotel is in a great location! Close to the airport, close to town, close to various restaurants.
