“very nice owners”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

Our stay at Azucenas was very relaxing. The owner's are very helpfull on things to see and do in the Zihuatanejo area. We stayed in room #20, it has a great view of the beach and bay. The store is stocked very full with anything you need. Our housekeeper left our room spotless everyday. Lao and his wife asked us if they could take us to the airport, that was real nice. They have a very beautiful hotel so close to the beach. We will be back next year. I enjoyed watching the workers pouring cement on the new stairs to the rooms. Thanks Don & Andrea

Hi, newbie as a reviewer but I thought my experience is worth mentioning. We stayed for just over a week and had a great time. Las Azucenas is just 100m from the best beach in Zihuatanejo - Ixtapa. We tried to do a bunch of things while we were there and enjoyed them all - swimming, snorkeling, fishing, para-gliding, local shopping, lots of drinking (happy hour!) and eating, etc. I would rate Villa Las Azencenas as good overall value but what makes this Villa stand out most others (other than it's location) are the hosts. As you can see from all the reviews, Lao and his family make the extra effort to help you enjoy your stay. These are truly great people and they can turn a good vacation into a great vacation.

We spent 10 nights with Lao and his family at this hotel. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and cold beer and shown personally to our rooms. The hotel is clean and there is always someone at the front desk to assist or advise where to go and how to get there. We were in room 7 over looking the pool on the first floor. Our TV died while we were there and had a new one that day. La Ropa beach is the nicest beach in Zihua and you can walk or $4.00 cab to town. There is a steep hill to town (both ways). If you don't want busy mega all inclusive hotels in Ixtapa this is the place. We used Trip advisor and checked out every Mexican restaurant that rated most of time ate supper for under $40.00 for 2. IF you like to experience the country rather than the all inclusive hotel this is the spot. The area was not hit hard from the hurricane and we did not feel unsafe at any time. We went as 2 couples but I can't wait to take my kids back to see the baby turtles on the beach.

We just returned from a 2 week stay at Villas Las Azucenas. We have stayed with them our last 3 trips and it just keeps getting better. Each time we have come back there has been an addition to the hotel. More rooms and a store that has a little bit of everything. This trip we stayed in room 20 on the 4th floor with a beautiful view of the bay. The accommodations couldn't have been better. We had a jacuzzi in our room and the sleeping area was mostly glass affording us a view nightly of the lightning out at sea. All rooms are air conditioned, most have a kitchenette and they have great patio area around the pool. The rooms have been tastefully decorated by Azucenas and each one is done differently in traditional Mexican decor. This was the end of off season so things were a bit quiet, but we found we liked that as everyone had time to sit and visit. Lao, his wife Azucenas and their daughter little Azucenas met us at the airport....it felt like we were coming home! The family and their staff are very helpful and will find you what you need if they don't have it. We were just about 75 yards from La Ropa beach....an easy walk to restaurants. We highly recommend Villas Las Azucenas and will be returning year after year!

Lots of activities near the hotel. Walking distance to the beach. Food and drinks available on-site.
Friendly and charming hotel staff, providing a warm welcoming atmosphere. Staff accommodated our wedding party with first class service. Hotel is secure and safe. I look forward to making Hotel Azcuenas my annual retreat from home. I would recommend Hotel Azcuenas to friends and family.

Thank you for your wonderful comments about the Hotel-Villas las Azucenas.
The staff and I certainly appreciate your comments about our level of customer service.
We appreciate that you have taken notice of our attention to detail.
Playa La Ropa is a two minute walk from your room.
One of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world, on the southeastern side of Zihuatanejo Bay.
Playa La Ropa is your local tropical paradise. It is breathtaking, any time of day or night—a whole kilometer of wide sandy beach lined with palm trees to just hang out on, soak up the sun and read. Early morning beach walks are a special treat.
There´s parasailing, water skiing, snorkeling, banana boats, catamaran and kayaking available right off the beach.
You will found many restaurants, excelllent food, cold beverages and many places to lounge.
Everything you need is right on the beach. Food, drinks, massage, yoga, activities. It is a great place to spend lazy, or not so lazy, days.
Thanks for spreading the word about Hotel-Villas las Azucenas. Your thoughts that you share with friends and family are very important to us.
We hope you come back next year.

Room has a very distinct chemical order to treat the wood for termites. Staff said all rooms will smell like that. We bailed the following morning. Internet works in some areas of the room. The hot water does not work. The room is spacious. Air con and tv works. TV is out dated. Close your window at night or bats will fly in. We waited for about 5 minutes before someone came to front desk to check us in. Staff is friendly and nice.

Be don´t use pesticide a pesticide is generally a chemical or biological agent (such as a virus, bacterium, antimicrobial or disinfectant) that through its effect deters, incapacitates, kills or otherwise discourages pests. Target pests can include insects, plant pathogens, weeds, mollusks, birds, mammals, fish, nematodes (roundworms), and microbes that destroy property, cause nuisance, spread disease or are vectors for disease. Although there are benefits to the use of pesticides, some also have drawbacks, such as potential toxicity to humans and other animals.

The rooms are nicely decorated and the pool is nice too, but we had to check out early because there was such a strong smell of varnish (used to treat the wood), that it made me physically ill. I would not recommend this hotel if you are sensitive to chemical odors. It's not healthy to breathe these kinds of substances. Also, there was no hot water. I thought for $50/night, hot water would be in order. The staff was friendly and let us check out a day early.

The hotel ensures no pesticides used to treat wood.the hotel has hot water and guarantee the service or the return of money unfortunately there is no communication with the administration and it is through this route that channel their complaints.
Personally I am attending the hotel and I will be attentive to your feedback in order to find a solution.
