We had a wedding of 60 people at this restaurant 5 years ago. The atmosphere and food was amazing. The staff was very attentive. we could not have been happier.

We too questioned the intent of our taxi driver as our cab trecked up a questionable dirt road, but upon arrival our fears were diminished. La Cala opens up on this beautiful cove where the sounds of the crashing waves on this open-air restaurant greet guests to dine. The torches flicker off the water and accent the atmosphere ever more.

Service is professional, polite and reserved and does not interfere with the experience. Appetizers were amazing! Ceviche and Tuna Tartare. If went back I would order just appetizers for dinner. We had ordered the Toronadoes, which was not very good, but it is our palates as Americans that made the dinner unsavory. For future travelers, do not order beef in Mexico. It is either domestic or Argentinian and is very tough. Stick with local fare from the sea and pork is done very well there also.

Also, the restrooms were beautiful , immaculate and air-conditioned!

Overall, a beautiful and memorable dinner!

La Cala is a special place.

As you are driving up to the entrance on this bumpy, dirty road you will think that your taxi driver is taking you to a mugging but have no fear - La Cala beckons. La Cala is situated in a cove with a stone beach that has a big tide. You sit right by the water and watch and listen to the waves crash on the stones. Fantastic. The menu and food are good but not fantantic. Like all place in Mexico, the wine list is limited and expensive. Order the special seafood ceviche platter (not on the menu ) a meal size appetizer and split an entree. Service is good.

My wife and I go to La Casa Que Canta every year and always have a dinner at La Cala one night.

You could not ask for a more romantic setting for dinner. La Cala is at the foot of a small bay, with tables in tiers rising up a small hill from the waves breaking over rocks. As the sun sets, you watch the pelicans leaving Zihuatanejo Bay and the frigate birds soaring and diving around the restaurant. After the sun is down, it becomes even more incredible, with lights shining on the breakers. This truly is an incredible experience.

Oh yes, the food is quite nice too. A blend of Mexican and Continental cooking, with an emphasis on local seafood. The service is attentive and first rate.
