First time in Mexico Zihuatenejo.
Lovely place, climate, people, culture, waves, and food! Coconuts is by far the best experience in downtown Zihua, there is no restaurant like it anywhere down town. The food, service, entertainment, and above all the show it's amazing. The bananas and coffee flambé was just something to remember. Haven't seen anything like it around Zihua.
Love the place, and their welcoming staff. Definitely will come back !

“Nice atmosphere & music, mediocre food and tourist trap tactics”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

Heart of palm and lobster salad had very little lobster. Lobster bisque tasted more like fish than lobster and so on. Ordered a $30 bottle of Pinot Grigio. They were out of the Italian and brought a very ordinary California substitute. Should have asked, but usually when a restaurant is out and brings something else down here, they have found a similarly priced bottle and don't bother to change the wine list. In this case, the bill came and the bottle was $60 for a bottle that can be had in the grocery store for $10. Very short sited. We've talked to other seasonal residents down here who aren't going back either. As I said, I like the atmosphere and Juanito on the guitar, but there are many places to get a better meal at a better price. And, at this price, I'd far rather be dining at Villa de la Selva in Ixtapa on a cliff overlooking the bay. Then, I'd be drinking French wine and be eating something like the fish trio with three different sauces.

“High quality service and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

It's great to have Juan Pablo and his team back on song for the Zihuatanejo high season. The food, and presentation are superb once again, and the ambience is convivial and enchanting. Some minor changes to the menu - the hearts of palm salad now includes lobster - so still a favorite for those who like a more European/US dining experience occasionally. A welcoming air conditioned bar area, which continues to serve good bar snacks, is a splendid meeting focus for the restaurant. The air-conditioned, clean and well maintained toilets must be considered a luxury for the area. Crepe-suzette or banana flambe' is a treat that you will rarely see north of the border, and the Spanish coffee will light up your night.
The bar opens at 5pm and restaurant at 6.

“A Zihuatanejo Tradition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

You must visit Coconuts at least once while you are in Zihua. First class restaurant in the heart of this Mexican fishing village. Prices are high for this town but Coconuts offers first class service food an atmosphere. A very special place for a special night in Z.

“love this place”

There is no other place like this in zihua. The staff are great and the food is wonderful. Very beautiful patio and the manager Jaun Pablo is always right there to over see any need. I can't wait for it to open for the season.
