To use the title of a Ernest Hemingway short story, Bungalows Conny is indeed "a clean,well-lighted place." Over the last four years, I have for primarily birding purposes visited San Blas three times and without any regrets whatsoever have stayed at that 4 room establishment five-six nights each time. The first two times I stayed in a "standard" room while during my last visit I was in the smaller of the two bungalows. Located on a residential street less than ten minutes from the main plaza, I found it extremely convenient to access by walking all of San Blas.
The rooms be they the "standard" or the bungalow are exceedingly spacious, well-maintained with everything functioning as intended (including the much needed at times air conditioner and overhead fan), smartly decorated, well-lighted and immaculate. The large bathrooms with big modern showers have 'instant" hot water 24 hours a day with the towels being replaced daily.
The delightful bungalow that I stayed in met the definition of a "San Blas Bungalow" meaning that there was one room which had both the sleeping area and kitchen together which I found to be perfect for my needs; I believe the larger of the two bungalows has a separate sitting/kitchen area and a suite-like bathroom/sleeping area. The spotless kitchen is equipped with a standard-sized refrigerator, a four-burner range and oven, a microwave, a coffee maker, a five gallon container of bottled water which was immediately replaced when empty (thank goodness!) , and stocked more than adequately with plates/bowls, cutlery, pots and pans and utensils.
As mentioned by another reviewer, making arrangements to stay at Bungalow Conny's is a breeze as the American owner, Tom, unlike many of the other San Blas innkeepers that I initially attempted to deal with, actually returns email messages and quickly at that. I found Tom to be quite friendly, accessible and a source of a wealth of information about the area.
Since San Blas is truly one of the best birding locations in the world (plus has excellent relatively inexpensive seafood and antojitos/traditional Mexican snacks), I surely will be returning there again and again from my home base in Michoacan, Mexico. Moreover, since all of my experiences at Bungalows Conny have been exceedingly positive, I will give no thought to ever staying elsewhere when I sojourn to that "birders paradise."
