“An absolute MUST for anyone visiting Puerto Vallarta”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

I have been going to La Palapa for years, and my Grandmother since before I was born. It's a true landmark in the city with an exceptional reputation for good reason. It is the first place I visit when I get back to town and I loooooove bringing friends here for their first time- it's just a very special place.

My recommendations for La Palapa...

-Sunset here, is breathtaking. Arrive early so you have a good seat.

-Order a La Pahlua - their signature drink - and pretend it doesn't have 3 billion calories. OMG the best vacation cocktail ever!

-Ask for Jorge to be your server! He's great- and be sure to have him make you one of his flaming coffees. Probably the most you will ever spend on coffee, but the taste and show are so worth it!

-If you like live music, call ahead and see when the band starts while you're there. Times can change according to season. I love the music here; relaxing latin jazz and you don't have to be shy about requests!

-Call ahead and see if any special events are planned. I've attended quite a few here, ranging from new year's celebrations to turtle releases by the local refuge.

This is a great place to hang during the day too, but I prefer sunset and nighttime for the atmosphere. There's just nothing like it!

“Best dining experience in Vallarta”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Vallarta- possibly my favorite of any restaurant I have been to in my worldly travels. The ambiance is extraordinary. The food, perfection. The service is truly impressive. I recommend Jorge if you have the option; he has been providing exceptional service here for years and is always happy to offer a great show with flaming Mexican coffees!

If you're looking for a romantic experience, definitely inquire about the romantic table experience. Rose petals leading out to a white linen covered table on the beach at sunset; it's just one of those breathtaking moments meant to be cherished.

Brunch is fab here! Mimosas and eggs benedict on the beach... what could be better!

“Best seaside experience ever!”

We found La Palapa on the ocean in Puerto Vallarta and what a find it was! Fabulous dinner on the sand, great drinks, exceptional service, all wrapped into one with an amazing view of the sunset! Our server, Jorge Bernal, was so fun and attentive, he made the night even more special. Can't wait to visit again!

“excellent food and service”
Reviewed August 16, 2014

Have not been to Puerto Vallarta in 20 years and it has changed dramatically. But La palapa has not changed, its still fantastic.

Its been here since before Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton put PV on the map in Night of the Iguana.

It was so good we went there for dinner twice and we were only there for three nights.all food was outstanding ,service was better the first night than the second .Be sure to have the flaming coffee, its $15 but worth it(see the pictures).
