Casa Cupula provides a first class place to stay in Puerto Vallarta. It has a variety of room options, a helpful staff and a gym on site. Taste restaurant which is on the property provides a good opportunity for fine dining on the premise. it is easy walking distance to the beach yet off the beaten path. It is also close to the entertainment you will want to enjoy.

We stayed here for 3 days on our first trip to PV. The hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the nicer end of PV. It is a short walk to hotel from the beach or the town up a short stairway which we found relatively easy despite not being particularly fit. We had booked a junior suite which was truly amazing - beautifully decorated with a mezzanine floor and an infinity pool. We booked on the internet and found the hotel excellent value for money. The restaurant was amazing and we had some of the best food that we ate in Mexico, enjoying several meals there.
All the staff are very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our only regret was that we didn't arrange to stay longer. It is very easy for hotels to categorise themselves as 'boutique'...the difficulty is to perform at the high end consistently.. Casa Cupola does just that...consistent excellence across all aspects of their business and delivered , what seemed to us, effortlessly ! Magnificent !!

We stayed here on our 1st trip to PV. A lovely place on the side of a steep hill. Most rooms seemingly had a good view, some of the water. We had a junior suite that had a mostly private small infinity dipping pool with an ocean view where we could see whales- ugh! The room was lavishly decorated but probably more than we needed to be honest; there were some minor maintenance issues that didn't effect our stay. Super clean. There are pools all over this place, and its fun to explore. The gym is much better than your average hotel gym, nice hot-tub. There were pleasant social gatherings and meet other friendly guests. The staff is approchable and helpful, even if it felt the tours, restaurant, extras, etc. were seemingly pushed (only normal I suppose).

Though we didn't mind too much, there's lots of stairs on the property-everywhere, so be aware of that. I feel I do need to say also that this place is seriously uphill from the main tourist area of PV. And no matter what anyone says, the closest 3 stairways are surprisingly long and steep and daunting after a full belly or for the 2nd or 3rd time that day. The street to cross is very busy with heavy, hier speed traffic, curves to see around and no official crosswalk. For us, better than average shape/regular gym goers, it just made it a bit harder to plan the day, ie. not easy to just pop back in the room to change from the beach, plop after lunch or go to BR, etc. Taxis are an option, but twice or more per day? (I would set the price in Spanish if you can before every ride or buyer beware.) Restaurant a bit too pricey for us to eat all meals there, so that means down stairs to b-fast daily before coffee, etc. I don't mean to put anyone off from staying here, it just seems most reviews dont mention this objectively in my opinion.

Took a fun, easy to figure out public bus ride up to Sayulita for a daytrip. PV surprisingly (to me) filled with Canadian and American retirees. Great b-fast and impressive service at Café Olla and Fredy's Tucan; Joe Jack's yummy despite the line and Gaby's has an authentic feel in quiet, pretty neighborhood.

Room Tip: Lots of different options in size, location, proximity to pools, etc.

A group of 10 went to PV for my partner's 40th birthday celebration. Not everyone really knew each other so we didn't want to rent a house and force everyone to get to know each other. But we didn't want to stay in some hotel either. Someone recommended Casa Cupula.

From the first conversations I had with Boris and Logan until the time we were all shuttled back to the airport, we could not have been more pleased with our stay (and we had some pretty picky people in our party). Each room has it's own personality, so it was fun to see each other's rooms and discover how different they are. We stayed in the penthouse which was perfect to entertain. Logan helped coordinate everything for a fantastic birthday reception complete with bartender and drag queen. During our stay, the entire staff made it a point to go out of their way to make us feel welcome. We left there feeling like we not only had a great time, but also made new friends.

If you're looking for some place with an infinity pool that fits 100 people, don't stay here. But if you're looking for a place to get away, relax, meet some sweet golden retrievers, and maybe meet new people, this is perfect.

We will definitely be going back and we have already recommended it to several friends.

As a couple visiting the property for the first time, we had high expectations. The team on this property exceeded them! Between check-in and check-out, it was genuinely the best experience we've ever had in a hotel.

The Restaurant Taste is a must do! Our room, 421, was beautifully decorated and an amazing room, period! Logan and Jesus were our primary contacts and were always available. The manager of the restaurant makes a point to introduce himself to every guest, and makes you feel right at home.

It's a very intimate property, the pool areas are sort of small, so plan on the beach. The gym is well equipped and the internet service is the best that we've experienced in all of Mexico!

We have nothing but good things to say and will. This is a definite must-do in PV!

First of all, hats off to the staff, who are EXTREMELY friendly! The staff made our stay so much better.

I actually prefer the hotel being up in the hills. For only 50 pesos we took it up from the beach. We always walked down to the beach or Old Town as it's literally 7 minutes. The location in the hills offer peace and tranquility. The views from the restaurant and other areas are gorgeous. The food was delicious although a tad pricey. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed and pillows, large bathroom, and screened in doors that you can open for fresh air. Some other guests mentioned the mold smell. Mine smelled a bit at times (not unbearable), I believe due to some of the waterfall systems which I mentioned to staff on departure day.

I do wish there was one large pool over 3 smaller ones, but to be honest we went down to the beach all day and stayed at Mantamar beach club which has both a beach AND huge pool on the ocean. So the hotel pools were pretty much empty which is great when you want to use them, and perfect for a morning or late afternoon dip. Why hang around here all day when you have the beach (and a beachfront pool) so close!?

Overall the property is very romantic, perfect for couples or single travelers who don't want to stay near the constant partying at the beach (do NOT stay at Blue chairs..pay up for Cupula). For a weekend or long weekend (or first time visiting) I would definitely come back and stay here. For a week or more, I would try to rent a condo.

One major disappointment was the lack of taking American Express. This is one of the priciest hotels in the area, which I am fine paying for, but they need to get on board and take AMEX. AMEX cardholders spend on average much more than other cardholders.

Don't miss Diva's show on Thursday nights! She is one of the best drag entertainers in town!

Thanks again for a great trip.

We've visited Casa Cupula numerous times since they've opened but most recently after the last major expansion. Great to see the gay owned property growing and doing well. We stayed in the Sayuri Suite. It's a spa like suite setting with great views, nice private dipping pool, a shower big enough to hold at least 6, after all your in Puerto Vallarta, a urinal, who doesn't love a urinal in their own suite, large glass sliding doors that lead out to your patio including large windows that open up into your shower to make you feel like your showering outside. There is also enough lighting, dimmers and controls (I stopped counting at nearly 30) for any gay mans dream to set any lighting mood. They have a nice gym but who needs a gym when your in a walking town such as Puerto Vallarta. No need to hit the treadmill. The staff is friendly and attentive and Puerto Vallarta is a gay mans paradise. Enjoy!
