We had a great time at Costa Sur in Puerto Vallarta. The rooms were large and accommodating. We had our own private beach were you could snorkel which is great for those who have kids. The food was great especially the breakfast, which was included in our trip. The only down side is that to get anywhere it is about a $13.00 taxi ride. But if you are looking for seclusion this is the place to go.

We had a great vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Loved Old Town! The resort was nice for its age. We enjoyed our 1bdrm condo, the meals at the resort did not compare to any of the establishments we enjoyed while walking through Old Town. In my opinion, the real jewel of the resort was the lagoon. We enjoyed many water activities while staying at the resort. I would have loved some sort of club activity at the resort. It would have helped me enjoy the nights without having to go back into town.

Room Tip: If planning on spending most of your time in town, staying at the main tower gives you greater access to transportation. Both Taxis & Public buses.

Upon Arrival to Costa Sur Resort, the breath taking view from this Ocean Front Traditional Mexican Resort was truly magnificent. I was greeted by a friendly Staff who continually went out of their way to make my trip most enjoyable. The resort is older and may not have all the amenities and qualities of Mega Resorts located in the Nuevo Section of Puerto Vallarta, however, it has all the Charm and Service of a Quality Resort and it is located on the Coastline offering fabulous view of all Puerto Vallarta!

August is perhaps the busiest time for the Resort as it is high Vacation time for the families with kids from other Regions before school begins, so the resort was full and it was difficult to find a quiet relaxing place to enjoy in peace. The resort does have an Adult pool area, however, the no children rule is not enforced and many times the young children were noisy and the pool was full of very large "pool floating toys".

The Suites are large and comfortable and nicely decorated, The kitchen was adequate and made it convenient for preparing simple meals. The ocean front balcony view made it a perfect place to enjoy the sunsets . The large flat screen TV had excellent Cable and I found the Internet to be excellent once I figured out that sometimes the router needed to be reset by the resorts IT department.
One of the best features of the resort is the Restaurant and Bar Service. The food is excellent, high quality products, fresh, delicious, wide variety and reasonably priced. Service was Excellent. Happy Hour is 5 to 6 pm, although It would be better if it was 4pm-6pm as in other resorts.
The Lagoon is an added feature to the resort. The breakwater provides a wonderful area for snorkeling, swimming and was constantly enjoyed by the guests. (Be sure to take water bookies or soft shoes to wear in the water as it is rocky in many areas) The small beach area does have lounge chairs and umbrellas and best of all a great place to enjoy the beautiful ocean.

The resort has an Excellent Concierge who is very knowledgeable on the variety of Activities and Tours available in the surrounding area. I took advantage of the Diving, Horse back riding, Local Bus Tours and visits to town for shopping and dining. I took the Public Bus which is easy, fun and only cost 7 pesos (50 cents). All the buses are color coded, and have on the window their destination: Orange for trip to/from Old Town (known as Romantic Zone), transfer to Blue or Green to Costco/Wal-Mart, Marina etc. simple!

My most enjoyable part of the trip was Scuba Diving. Gustavo, Dive Master, Instructor, Scuba/Snorkeling Tour Guide provided an accelerating diving adventure. He is very professional and safety was his priority which lead to a fun diving adventure to all the many dive spots in Puerto Vallarta. If you are interested in diving or a snorkeling adventure, be sure to ask for Gustavo!
Costa Sur is a Wonderful Resort and I look forward to my next visit to My Home Away From Home!

Room Tip: All rooms have ocean front views, I have only stayed in North Tower. Because of location of resort, all rooms offer wonder views.

Went to Costa Sur for the first time this July and to PV for the first time in 20+ years. I had concerns going to Costa Sur at first s it was an older property and I liked the idea of the "all inclusive" but wasn't sure about t food. Well it was wonderful. The people were tremendous and the food was some of the bst "mexican" food Ihave had. It was aso nice to have the same waiters most days as you got to know them and they you. Everyone from the bellman to the front desk to the waiters and cleaning people were wonderful. If you are looking for a big "mega resort" this is not for you. Also I am not sure if you are single and looking to meet someone there it is possible but it is smallr and less "club-ish". The rooms are large (even the studios) and the beds comfortable. The appliances need updating (refrigerator, telephone, stove) but they all worked. There is wireless in the hotel but it wass not always strong. I know the hotel is working on mking this a non-issue. And the beach being semi-private and sheltered by a breakwater was excellent. It made for swimming and snorkeling very easy. So overall a wonderful time.

Room Tip: A corner room will give you a larger balcony.

Costa sur is a nice resort. It is an old hotel the rooms are little outdated. My family we had two rooms, all very clean. Great view overall all enjoyed the room. Very spacious. Flat screens. We did cook on the stove. Our rooms were in the north tower. No wifi service in our room. We had to go to the lobby or ground floor to use it and enter a login every time. Food was good. Hotel buffets are ok. They offer a nice pool bar and restaurant. kayaking, snorkeling and other activities. Great experience. Loved our time at the resort. If you are expecting a new 5 star place. This is not the place for you. Great place for the price.

Room Tip: I believe the north tower is older so if you want a newer room, stay in the main building.
