Description: Maia comes and exists in several cultures, where they match as the Goddess and Protector of Mother Earth, which "provides all without asking for anything in return". It is also the name of my daughter, and is the name of a supreme blessing in my life and its' meaning is love.. In Maia restaurant, our intention is to share a small sample of what Mother earth gives us, made with love in our poetic kitchen; that is our intent, as well our main ingredient. We believe that we should always give thanks for our foods, as they are the gift that Maia offers. We invite you to enjoy and share love without the super-ego, and live your present as you desire; to enjoy the enjoyable. Here, in Maia, we promote and believe in what has been made in Mexico, should be shared. We have space for all, to share our huge Mexican heart. The products we share are grown locally, fresh daily, organic, and they're from local producers who work every day to support their families and doing what they do with love. Thanks in advance for your visit and allow us to continue making this dream blessings (Hugo Ahumada).

“This place is incredible both in service and food.”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

I reserved for six people; we had two more added; I e-mailed the restaurant, but they did not get the e-mail in time; however, they reset the table quickly and told us that it was not a problem. We ate outside, and it was a beautiful setting. We were asked what kind of music we wanted; we were given many choices; however, we chose not to have music as several of us do not hear well.

Our server, Muriel, couldn't do enough for us; she explained everything carefully. She took our order promptly and repeated it so that she was sure we were getting what we wanted. Her English is excellent. Hugo came out to make certain that all was well. He even brought 4- month-old Maia to see us. She is adorable.

We were here when the restaurant first opened, and we can't believe it took us this long to get back there.

All the appetizers and dinners were wonderful; the fish in the wine glass could have had a larger portion. My husband was still hungry, but he finished my fish in foil as it was too much for me to finish. Everything was excellent. When eight people are all happy, I would say it is quite a successful meal.

The desserts were awesome. The tiramisu was extraordinary.

Hugo came to the table to suggest that my Pacifico-drinking husband try a new micro-brewery beer. He brought several different kinds, and my husband chose one and thought it was great.

The food is served in unique 1/2 wine bottles or other creative manners. The steak was served on a chopping board with the knife sticking out of it.

We loved it; we will be back--and soon!!!

“Excellent, groovy and cool! What more could you want?”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

A must for foodies and cool people who like art, music and have an appreciation for that je ne sais quoi that is Puerto Vallarta. Un poco caro but worth paying a little more for a very inspired dinner made with love. Maia totally captures the essence of Puerto Vallarta, and in a way Mexico right now: modernisisisismo! Lovely staff, great service, delicious, totally satisfying, really local food. Very good Mexican wine list!

“It's gotta be Maia”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

If you only eat in one restaurant in PV it's gotta be Maia. Hugo is such an incredibly innovative chef and his desire to bring the best of local Mexican ingredients to the table, prepared with his creative flair, and focus on tradition make this an experience to remember. His menus change daily but the Lamb Molonaise and the Red Snapper we had were superb. The Mexican Tiramisu was delightful. We returned for breakfast on our last morning. Both meals were outstanding. Mala will be at the top of our list for the next visit to PV.
