Description: Maia comes and exists in several cultures, where they match as the  Goddess and Protector of Mother Earth, which "provides all without asking for anything in return".  It is also the name of my daughter,  and is the name of a supreme blessing in my life and its' meaning is love.. In Maia restaurant, our intention is to share a small sample of what Mother earth gives us, made with love in our poetic kitchen; that is our intent, as well our main ingredient. We believe that we should always give thanks for our foods, as they are the gift that Maia offers. We invite you to enjoy and share love without the super-ego, and live your present as you desire; to enjoy the enjoyable. Here, in Maia, we promote and believe in what has been made in Mexico, should be shared. We have space for all, to share our huge Mexican heart. The products we share are grown locally, fresh daily, organic, and they're from local producers who work every day to support their families and doing what they do with love.  Thanks in advance for your visit and allow us to continue making this dream blessings (Hugo Ahumada).

“Tough to top this experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

Recommended by Mavi, from Arte Culinario, this was a fabulous dinner, steps from the ocean. If you don't try this new spot, you may be missing out on one of the best meals in Puerto Vallarta.

“Great flavours, small portions and poor service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

Sorry to go against the flow with other reviews, but our experience was far from positive. Service started out great, we were greeted by Carlos and made to feel welcome. He did a good job reviewing the menu with us. However that is were the services ended. Once our orders were taken we saw no one until the food was delivered. Once the food was delivered, we saw no one. No one asked us how the food was or if we would like another drink. For 3 wait staff and 1 bartender on duty, this was inexcusable. The restaurant just was not that busy (4 tables total).

The food, the flavours were excellent, however the portions left us all hungry. My 12 year old who is not a big eater had a sandwich when we got home (he had the chicken) The Oxtail stew was an appetizer size at best. It came with 3 pieces of oxtail and 2 small (pinky size) carrots. The sauce was excellent, however there was no way to enjoy it some bread would have been nice. The 1/4 of a cob of corn was tuff and not enjoyable. My wife and mother had the red snapper in white wine sauce. Same issue great flavours, but just a small piece of fish and about 1 oz of turnips. No way of enjoying the sauce.

For dessert my wife had the bread pudding, it took 20 minutes and was not worth the wait.

We wanted to like the restaurant, but they have a lot of work to do. The plates are not fully developed and do not come with anything that we would normally call a main course.

The food rating is based on quantity and the lack of an entire main course. Flavour is great.

“Couldn't get enough...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014 via mobile

We loved Maia so much we ate there twice in three days. They have amazing, fresh, local ingredients combined with innovative and outside the box creations. Everything we had was delicious, from appetizers and drinks to desserts. Also it's not that expensive. The food tastes like it should cost more. On top of the killer food, the service was impeccable. Our waitress (the same both times) was awesome. Super friendly and knowledgable. So happy to have been recommended to it, and with great power comes great responsibility, so I now recommend it to you. We're from New York City, where foodies go to find the best restaurants. This one would fit right in. Treat yourself. You will not be disappointed.

“Unbelievable Gastro Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

Definitely go for the Chef's 5 course surprise menu. Unbelievable flavors and a wonderful journey for the palette. A definite 5 stars for the food, but marked down to 4 because their service was totally confused.

“The Reviews were Right”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014 via mobile

We used a TripAdvisor to lead us to this restaurant and we were not disappointed in any way.
The very friendly and helpful staff lead us through an excellent evening. The menu is an interesting presentation made on a chalkboard and implies a changing menu. Our group tried the tuna tartar and the green salad with cheese and a quails egg for starters. Both were excellent. For the main courses the slow roasted pork, lamb molanese (mole, not tomato sauce) and the fish and shrimp in papillote were chosen by us. All were unique and had excellent sauces and seasonings. Delicious.
The chef came to talk with us after our meal and confirmed that they have an ever changing menu, inspired by what's local and what's fresh at the market.
The high rating of this restaurant is well deserved. You won't be disappointed. Go!
