I went here for a wedding and had an amazing time. The whole line of resorts owned by this company is fantastic. The food was amazing and there was a great selection. The setting of the hotel could not be beat. Private beach surrounded by lush jungle mountains! The water was not exactly clear but it was still nice. The only negative thing I have to say about the hotel is that our room smelled of mold. The humidity down there is crazy though, so it is almost expected. I stayed for 4 nights and could have stayed for 4 more.

A safe, secure world of its own, you don't have to leave this resort but it's a mere $5 taxi ride to town. I've done all-inclusives in many places, Dreams really gets that concept. No bracelets, no mandatory towel inventory, no "beat the other guy" to dinner reservations. The food was just plain terrific, rooms lovely, beach perfect. There were so many activities to do or not do and the set up is respectful of adult only and family needs. I even sat through my very first Vacation Club presentation which was informative....but not for the kind of traveling I do, but it might be for you!

Room Tip: If you are not traveling with kids, definitely get Prefered Club.

We just returned from a 6 night trip to this resort. We have two elementary age children, and they had the time of their lives.
Pros -
Amazing Beach. This was one of the best beaches I've ever been to. There aren't too many resorts that have a private beach and no sharing with other resorts. Beach is big, has beautiful views and great water. There were several other "paid" services available right there on the beach too. I recommend the wave runners.

Kids Explorer Club - We thought our kids would be bored, but they ended up not wanting to leave. This allowed for some nice alone time with my wife. They have several women running the club. The kids love them and they keep the kids entertained and in line. The club has a nice schedule that varies each day. It's a nice mixture of sun time and down time. They'll also take your kids to lunch, dinner, and movies on the beach at night.

Food - The food was a solid good, with even a few very good meals thrown in. Best all inclusive food that I've had. The adults only restaurant, Portofino, was VERY good.

Service - Mostly great. Concierge and most employees there give great to amazing service. We had slow service at a few of the restaurants during busy time, but it's a little to be expected.

We stayed in the club tower, and I feel that it was worth the extra money. Great concierge service and rooms were VERY nice.
All rooms in the resort are ocean facing with great views.

Pools - The adult pool was very nice. The main pool was pretty crazy and we avoided it as much as we could. We came to this resort for the beach, which is amazing. If we came for the pool, I would have been disappointed and annoyed.

Spa was average at best, but we didn't go there for the Spa.

They also had great entertainment each night.

We were never bored at this resort.
My kids can't wait to go back and we're already talking about going again next year.
Loved it!

Service - perfection! The food servers, the reception servers, bartenders, waiters/waitresses, everyone worked above and beyond. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO PROPER TIPPING FOR THE WORKERS. They are superb and they deserve more than what can be given. Room service included.

Food - 5 restaurants. THe best ones are the buffet, The Grille and the little hut on far right side on the beach facing the ocean. I ate like a queen. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and in-between were spectacular.

Gym - big enough. Work as hard as you eat. It's well worth it.

Pool - The far left (facing the ocean) is for adults only. Awesome break from all the kids and noise.

We (3 couples) were at Dreams SPV the week of 3/12/13 to 3/19/13. It was an outstanding experience! The staff was top notch, friendly, helpful, couldn't do enough for you. We had two minor problems with our room, both resolved within 10 minutes. The rooms were a nice size, comfortable beds and we would reccomend an upgrade to include a balcony to enjoy the views in the morning and evening.
The buffet food was excellent, the restaurants were outstanding, the food, the presentation and the wait staff all on top of their game. All the pools and beach area were clean. The food and drinks on the beach were great. The wait staff on the beach, tending to your every need. There were vendors on the beach, never a bother, just ignore them and they go away.
Great sight lines of the shoreline and ocean, watching the whales off shore, good entertainment at breakfast. The Spa was worth the money, the workout area very good. The cocktail lounge with a great view of the sunsets, ocean and beach was a very nice place to start your evening and end it after your dinner.
We would definetly return to the Dreams SPV, it defines Apple's Golden Apple resorts!

My family (we have 11 year old twins) and I just returned from our vacation at Dreams last week and we are happy to report that our experience at this resort was our best vacation we have spent together. The resort is not too far from the airport (south of Downtown PV - and just a quick cab ride away). The location is very private on a secluded beach that is substantial in size. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and access is easy to any aspect of the facility you would like to use. This was our second time to PV and previously we stayed at a resort further down the coast. We loved both facilities, but feel that Dreams had more to offer for families activities-wise. While the pools may not be the biggest there were fine for cooling off and playing games. The beach access more than makes up for it.

We would like to commend Salvador the Concierge who runs the Tower we stayed in (we were willing to pay more to get a Junior Suite). He was very responsive to anything we needed pertaining to our room. We were able to secure a room higher up that had a beautiful view of the bay/beach area (but any room in this resort can give you that). The hotel was at capacity and he made sure that we got a room that met the size of our family. Also in this tower, Sergio served us coffee every morning with a big smile.

Our family took full advantage of the activities the facility had to offer (and still missed out on some because the choice was so vast). I went to the Yoga classes right on the beach most mornings at 9 AM. My kids loved the ping pong table, crazy games, bingo, and other games by the pool. On the beach you could play soccer, volleyball or American football throughout the day. We even took a kayak tour all the way to the Boardwalk in PV one morning and hiked up the River bed (dry) on the property up to a waterfall. This resort also has a real rock climbing wall for those 14 and over who are adventuresome. One of our kids' favorite activities was a new one to the resort - Laser Tag. You could also play tennis or basketball in this same area. The entertainment staff was always energetic and engaging our kids to participate in all these wonderful activities. When we were not hanging at the pool, the beach offered days with huge waves and days with calm. You could take out a boogie board and use this or swim out to a trampoline and slide. You could also take out your own kayak in the bay when the waves were not too rough.

The food at the resort was also very good - from the World Cafe buffet to the Barefoot Grille right on the beach to the restaurants on the water. The Seaside Grille and Oceana restaurants have the best ambiance as they are right on the edge of the beach. The World Cafe also has an amazing outdoor view of the beach. There was even a sports bar for my March Madness fanatic husband to catch his basketball fix. The kids oftentimes over took the Pool table in this bar too.

The staff was amazing and some names that come to mind (in addition to the ones already mentioned) that stand out are Bethy who greeted us upon arrival and checked on us throughout the week, Oscar, Lalo, Izzie, Pedro, Ricardo, Octavio and Juan who ran our day time and night time activities. Alma always welcomed us at the World Cafe every afternoon. We felt that this Dreams crew worked hard and we felt that tipping was a great gesture to express our thanks for their amazing service.

There was a big group of high school kids staying at Dreams last week too that became unruly at times. The hotel management worked hard to not let this group upset the rest of us that were there for a family vacation and not a 'party' scene.

Our experience was made even better by the many friendly families that we met during our stay! Thanks for a fabulous vacation!

Room Tip: Rooms in the Preferred Tower cost more but are bigger. I understand the older tower has undergone s...

My husband and I went away last May (late to review) and have been to other all inclusives but honestly Dreams PV is so relaxing and everything is easy to access, love the private beach and we loved Oceana and the seaside grill for lunches/dinners. Felt truly pampered and were so relaxed the whole week. We are planning on another family vacation this May for my parents 40th wedding anniversary, bringingnmy parents and taking our young children this time, truly an amazing vacation!! Stayed in the preferred tower but checked out the other tower as well, both have beatiful views!
