Just back from Dreams with our four boys, aged 13-17. The resort kept them all busy and entertained, lots to do or not do. Food and beverages were excellent in every restaurant and bar. Service was excellent in all departments. Cleanliness was excellent everywhere. Beach was perfect as was the weather. We were in the preferred tower and our rooms were great. Anyone posting complaints about any aspect of this resort mustn't have ever been there. We really and truly had a fantastic resort experience in every way. Special Thank you to Ramon in Portofino for the wonderful family dinner experience our last night and also to Salvador our Concierge. Did I mention the coastline? Beautiful! My only suggestion, not a complaint, would be more live music in the lobby bar after the nightly shows are over.

Room Tip: Go for the preferred tower, well worth it!

We just returned from a week at Dreams PV. The beach is beautiful! We swam, kayaked, and boogie boarded. We stuck to the beach as the main pool area was crowded (although the smaller pool near our building usually had available lounge chairs). Some people do put towels out early to save spots, but that's really not necessary. We always found good chairs when we were ready to head to the beach. Our room, in the older building, was quiet with a fabulous view and comfortable beds. The food was pretty good. You don't have to make reservations which is very convenient. We only had to wait slightly one night for a table at the Seaside Grill. The entire staff was wonderful and very accommodating. We were traveling as a couple, and there were many groups of faimilies with babies, elemenary school aged kids, teenagers, and grandparents. One night there was a hypnotist show that was very entertaining. The cab ride to town takes 5-10 minutes and costs $5 and to the airport takes 35 minutes for $15. As an outisde excursion, we had fun on the Los Veranos Canopy Tour. We would definitely stay at this resort again.

Stayed at Dreams from March 8-15, 2013. Had a great experience for the most part. The food was excellent! We had great service at all the a la carte's and buffet. Lounge service was very slow. Our room in the old tower was perfect! We really enjoyed having a balcony. The beach was wonderful. Waves were rough, but a good challenge for strong swimmers. We were not impressed with kids being allowed in the main pool with the swim up bar. The adult pool had very few lounge chairs and were usually occupied. The staff did not enforce the rule of no kids in the whirlpools. Overall we thought this resort was really nice but the kids in the main pool was a huge turn off.

This was our second trip to Dreams. As you'll see from other reviews, it's a fantastic resort. The beach is great, every room has a view, and the staff are super friendly. The rooms are in close proximity to the beach-- so if you need to run up to your room to get something, you can be there and back on the beach in a couple of minutes. It was great to meet Bethy- the friendly concierge who helps people out on their Facebook page.

Just a few minor irritants-- they do try to hook you up on the timeshare when you're checking in, which isn't pleasant after a day of traveling (or really any other time). The food in the world market might have stepped down a bit-- there must have been a great deal on fake crab as it was everywhere! (salads, deep-fried, paella and most likely the sushi, which I didn't sample this trip). The jungle trek, a free activity offered from the Activity Centre, was really just a walk up the dried-up river bed-- it was nice to get out for a walk and our leader was very good-- but there wasn't much to see and I probably wouldn't call it a jungle trek!

Despite these small things, I would definitely return. We did a private 2 hour tour with Arturo of Yellow Cabs (#555) and he took us south to a variety of places including some different villages -- it was reasonably priced, and really interesting.

We stayed the week of March 21, 2013.

Room

We got an amazing room on the 20th floor of the old tower. No balcony - but the door opened and there was a railing. Breathtaking views - very clean room - great service. A+++ from that standpoint.

Location

Dreams has a private beach nestled by two coves. THIS IS HUGE. Don't have to worry about stragglers coming onto the beach. The beach is perfectly maintained. Easy to get a drink. A+++ from that standpoint.

Service

The only complaint is during dinner time - the hostess have no clue what they are doing and get overwhelmed. So, the best advice is to not eat during peak times. Every other part of the service - (maids, waiters, staff) - is excellent!

Food

If you are from the US, which I believe has the highest standards for food, you will be disappointed. Let me start at the World Cafe (which is the buffet) - its pretty bad. For breakfast, the only thing I would recommend is the OJ. Omelets, eggs, pancakes, french toast, bacon, and even the Mexican stuff is all nasty. Lunch and dinner at the buffet are down right nasty.

At the restaurants, stay away from the beef - it might look good on the menu - but its cheap and nasty. The fish is fresh and would be good if they weren't sauteed in some buttery cream sauce. Its just not good.

Drinks

Beer = Corona, Negro Modelo
Wine = Chilean brands for the Reds, Whites
Spirits = Mid-Shelf brands (Bacardi Rum, Finlandia Voldka)

Room Tip: High Floor rooms - you have to get it! Doesn't matter which tower! Stay away from the Buffet!

From the minute we arrived and were greeted with champagne, to the moment we left - we couldn't have asked for more from an all inclusive resort!
We booked through Expedia and then called the resort to see if we could upgrade our room. We did this because we read the reviews on here regarding the other tower, and thought it worthwhile to have the Jacuzzi on the balcony :) It really was worth it - the room was fantastic and while the Jacuzzi wasn't fantastic, it was fun and added another dimension.
The staff at the resort, especially in the upgraded tower were fantastic, and the food and drinks were all of a high caliber. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and in talking it through of where to vacation this year - we are coming to the conclusion with go with what you know - we know we will have an amazing time here and so - we will be booking up again very shortly.

We cant wait to return!

Room Tip: Go with the preferred tower - its worth the added expense..
