After spending weeks reading reviews, watching videos, and looking at hundreds of online photos, we decided that Dreams PV was the place to go. All the research paid off in spades. From arrival, where we were greated with a cool cloth and a refreshing (non-alcoholic) drink, to departure, which arrives far too soon, the friendly staff did their best to ensure we had an amazing experience.
We spent two nights in the main tower before upgrading to a suite in the preferred club tower. There was nothing wrong with our original room. It was clean and comfortable, and like every room on the resort, had a view of the ocean. The upgrade was just one of those extra things we decided to do for ourselves. The suite was larger, more elegantly decorated, and had a jacuzzi on the balcony.
The food was excellent, although I found the portions in the a la carte restaurants to be a little small. This was easily fixed by ordering an extra appetizer or having a snack a little later on. With 5 restaurants, a snack bar, a coffee shop and 24 hour room service, there is a wide variety of choices things to eat. The no reservation policy makes it very convenient to dine whenever you like. We were there during the "off" season, so no waits for a seat regardless of where we decided to go.
The beach is extremely large and private. They do an awesome job of keeping the beach area very clean. There are a number of vendors walking up and down the beach all day. They are not affiliated with the hotes, and as the beach is considered a fedral zone, the hotel has no control over them. Compared to some of the vendors we met downtown, the ones on the beach were persistent but not pushy
Overall, we had an amazing time. The friendly, helpful staff, the wide variety of foods and drinks, the nightly entertainment.............what more can I say.
We've only been home for 2 days now and we're already talking about "the next time"

My self and my family had a fantastic time at Dreams. The food in all the restaurants was very very good. Breakfasts at The World Cafe were out of this world!

The staff was fantastic friendly and helpful especially Elena in the Coco Cafe. She was so sweet and friendly

Rooms where cleaned daily with great care and the maid service was lovely. Rooms are dated looking and could use fresh paint.

We booked a regular room with a balcony and when we got our room, it was in the older tower and had been very recently painted (the day before?). The smell of paint was so strong we asked to switch rooms. They were very accommodating and moved us to the preferred tower, which is far superior. The resort is clean and the staff is friendly. The beach is vitrually private and going during low season, it is virtually deserted. The bars are great and the booze flows freely. The World Cafe buffet has something for everyone and is a great place to eat. The Oceanside and Seaside Grill are excellent choices for lunch or dinner. The food and service are very good and tasty. The burger hut is what it is, a hut on the beach that servers burgers and lunch. Portofino is their flagship restaurant and the food was excellent but the timing of serving of the food was off. We had 8 in our party and split into 2 tables next to each other. Our friends next to us got served and finished 20 minutes before us. The biggest disappointment was, El Patio, the Mexican restaurant which we ate ate at twice. We counted 2 waiters for the entire restaurant. Service was extremely slow and the food ONLY mediocre. This is the only restaurant we would not eat at again. We tried it twice and it fell short twice. Our trip was in early October, when turtles lay their eggs and you can participate in the daily baby turtle release if the eggs hatch and turtles are available. This is a must do if you can. Overall, a very nice resort with friendly and accommodating staff. The room service is included but feel free tip tip the staff if you feel it's warranted. The staff is always appreciative. So if you are looking for an all inclusive resort, try Dreams, we think you will enjoy it.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, spend a little extra and book the Preferred Tower.

My husband and I spent 10 days at this resort at the beginning of October. It was highly recommended by friends. We had planned to lay at the beach everyday and just relax and that is exactly what we did.
Our room was in the old tower. Not impressive, the building is being renovated, which to me looked like a coat of paint and changing the furniture from white to brown. They where making noise all day everyday and the fumes gave me a headache. Even from the beach we could hear the noise. No free wifi in the old tower. It is a perk of the preferred tower. I found that to be a cash grab, upgrade, upgrade. On the weekend the place got quite a bit fuller. We returned to our room to find it smelling strongly of cigarette smoke. It was coming through the air conditioning. We called the front desk but they said it was too late in the day to ask our new neighbors not to smoke in the room. Instead they sent us a maid who sprayed lemon pledge in our room. We had a horrible sleep, eyes watering and sore throats. We moved the next day but where never offered anything for the inconvience. House keeping was hit and miss. We had the turn down service 3 nights of 10. One day at 4PM we had to ask to have our room cleaned as it had not yet been done.
We were given a paper to collect a coupon book fro $200 worth of free stuff from the resort. Wifi is not an option. To collect this book you must sit with a VIP sales person, frankly we had had to many drinks when we saw her and didn't clue in that she was trying to sell us a time share in order to get a discount on an excursion. We didn't show up for the presentation and after that received dirty looks from her. Whatever.
The food was ok, some of it great some really bad. The world cafe is an open air buffet so there are flies, bugs and birds everywhere.
The seaside grill has a wonderful view but a terrible smell of some kind of gas.
My husband loved the lush grounds and greenery all around. The iguanas and geekos freaked me out.
We loved the beach!!!!!! The waves where perfect to play in and the temperature was great. The beach was raked daily. We parked ourselves under a palapa everyday. A small tip to the wait staff at the beginning of the day ensured great drink service. After a few days the barefoot grill was open for lunch. This was awesome as we could have lunch on the beach and not worry about covering up to go to the buffet.
They have some wild life that they bring around every few days that you can hold and have your picture taken with but if you don't know that and look up to see a lady walking down the beach with a snake wrapped around her shoulders...well that was really distrubing to me as snakes are my greatest fear. After that I was ok with the baby croc, parrot and hawk. The nightly turtle release is fun, we did it 3 times.
We had a good time learning some new casino games and I won a bottle of tequila playing texas holdem. We found the nightly entertainment to be lacking big time. BIG TIME!
We planned on laying on the beach and relaxing and that is what we did, so that made our vacation great. Would I return or recommend this place, NO.
This might be unrelated but, as I am boarding the plane for my flight home I get a really bad backache. I spent the 5 hour flight home with chills a fever and clutching the barf bag. I have since spent that last four days with all the other flu like symptoms. My doctor doesn't think it is food realated. I'm pretty sure that coming home so ill has tarnished my review of the resort.

I might've rated the hotel higher except we spent a large portion of the week's vacation complaining about our bothersome mosquito bites. At least 7 of the 8 of us got bit and the worse were myself (30 bites) and another friend (36 bites) and we're both blood type O which seems preferable by mosquitos. The "OFF" 25% Deet didn't help at all. Other friends who are not blood type O were bitten as well. We had either welts, wheals or red spots all over our legs, arms, hands. Mine would swell so large that they would start to weep and remain itchy for over 3 days before it'd get bbetter. Then there would be new bites and you'd start all over and come home with the itchy bites. At no point did I ever see a mosquito but our friend found one in his room and killed it, and found "alot" of blood on his hand. We went in October, which is off season but it's also their rainy season and that means mosquitos.
Our friends were also here 2 yrs ago in April and she says she also received a lot of bites then as well as on this trip. Don't be stingy on bringing hydrocortisone cream for the bites. They sell for 12 USD in the "farmacia" for a tube when you can pick up a tube in the US for less than half that price.
The staff clean and wipe the place down constantly, didn't feel the dishes in the restaurants were cleaned that well, esp in the buffet, World Cafe'. They have several dining facilities. Our favorites were Seaside and Oceana, they had the best seafood but both are outdoors and there were 2 very muggy days in the 90's and it was even unbearably uncomfortable to dine in even late at nite around 10PM. Service is very slow and the food is inconsistent at El Patio (Mexican theme). The dining atmosphere is good at Portofino (Italian) but the food wasn't as good as the seafood restaurants. The hamburgers, cerviches at the Barefoot Cafe' on the beach isn't bad.

They have unlimited cocktails with daily specials (one alcoholic, one non-alcoholic) which appeals to young adults. Lots of activities are lined up daily if you want to participate (dancing, water aerobics, yoga, etc). There's a new movie every evening and baby turtle releases (if they hatch) where we participated in releasing one per person of 1700 hatchlings in one evening.

The resort is about 30 mins from the Malicon for 50 pesos cab ride one way. We went twice to do some souvenir shopping. The vendors are expert negotiators so be prepared to haggle. It was an interesting trip but we're more of a NYC, Washington DC travellers and didn't like just laying around the beach doing nothing and eating, drinking all day. But our other friends do like this sort of vacation.
