“Beautiful and busy”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

Firstly, the private beach at the resort is absolutely gorgeous - probably the best in the area. The staff and locals are friendly and the food is delicious. The rooms, especially in the preferred tower, are spacious and beautifully decorated. We stayed for 6 nights, in the low season. When we arrived it was pretty quite, easy to find a spot in the restaurants and totally relaxing. The staff was sharp and attentive. Over the weekend however, tons of people arrived and it became very rowdy. Let's just say that you could tell by the crowd that alcohol was all-included. The service got a bit worse and the restaurants couldn't handle the load so well. Bottom line - If you like all-inclusive resorts, this place is great. If you are looking for something a bit more quiet and special, this probably isn't the place for you.

Room Tip: The rooms in the preferred tower are more expensive but a whole lot nicer! You might want to stay on...

Dreams is a scenic, beautiful resort--just the kind of place if you want a "Night of the Iguana" setting. Food was great, the staff were among the friendliest I have ever encountered. We ordered room service and it was great. Only problems were too many kids at the swim up pool bar, and that some of the restaurants were closed and we had to wait 40 minutes on Saturday night just to eat at Seaside. There were a few weddings on the Saturday and Sunday we were there, but the place is rather large so they don't get in your way and its cute to watch. They were doing some construction in and around the older tower, which didn't bother us as we were outside most of the day. They should, however, work on having free WIFI in all rooms and lobby areas as well. Otherwise it was a great romantic place for strolling up and down the beach and enjoying the three pools, and the beauty of Banderas Bay.

Room Tip: Old Tower is fine if you are outside most of the time--ask for a quiet room.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary at Dreams and it was one of our most enjoyable vacations ever! We went the first week of October and the weather was quite warm (94 for the highs). We were greeted as soon as we arrived with a cold wet towel and welcome drink (yummy). Checked in with absolutely no hassles. Fabricio wanted us to do the travel plan seminar and we said no and he gave us absolutely no pressure. We stayed in the Preferred Tower Junior Suite w/ jacuzzi which came with a mini-fridge filled with Corona, sodas, juices and water, which room service kept filled. The restaurants were all above standard. Food was delicious and each one and we tried them all. Service was impeccable. We waited for nothing. The bartenders kept your drinks coming all day at the pools or at the beach. Went deep sea fishing and caught a 40 pound MahiMahi, brought it to shore and the chef cooked it for us and had it available anytime we wanted it (unbelievable, really). We parasailed and snorkeled, too. Overall best vacation and the resort was totally enjoyable. Will absolutely go back again!

Room Tip: Preferred Tower Junior Suite w/ Jacuzzi on balcony is higher up so you have a better view of beach a...

Just returned from a wonderful 7 night stay at Dreams Puerto Vallarta. Our first two night were in the older tower, but we switched to the Preferred Tower for the rest of our stay. Construction was going on in the older tower, and it was somewhat noisy and paint fumes wafted everywhere. This was one reason for switching, the other was that we were travelling with my elderly parents, and the new tower was closer to most amenities, had much nicer rooms with balconies (rather than the Juliet balcony in the room in the older tower), had a lovely air conditioned lobby with computer access, a food and beverage service, pool towels available, and more. Switching at the resort was much cheaper than booking the new tower through our travel agent. The occupancy was very low when we first arrived so it felt like we had the place to ourselves, practically. The food was outstanding, as was the service. All the staff were very accommodating, especially with our needs for our parents who are in their mid 80's. The beach is great, good snorkeling at the north end amongst the rocks. We enjoyed the river hike, although they do need to stress that you are wading through water the whole way, up to your chest at the top near the waterfall, so the shoes you wear are out of commission for a day or two afterwards! The resort offers lots of activities, so we did not leave for the whole time! We did find that there was a lack of handrails into the pools (again, in consideration of the elderly) and quite a few stairs, it would not be possible to go there with someone confined to a wheelchair. However, we were very impressed overall. We plan to visit this resort again!

It's been almost two months since I returned from Puerto Vallarta. My girlfriend (now fiance) and I traveled in the end of August to Mexico. We very much enjoyed Cabo and felt that Dreams Puerto Vallarta would be a good follow up vacation to Mexico.

Since this was our second Mexican vacation this year, we were prepared with a bit more knowledge than last time. We pre-booked our excursions (Vallarta Eats and Vallarta Adventures), made sure we brought enough cash ($200 in singles, $300 in twenties, $200 in tens), and again ran right past everyone after customs. Let me repeat - do not stop for anyone in the area trying to sell you time shares. Puerto Vallarta was a bit cleaner than Cabo in this regard, but the room was very overwhelming. Just run, don't walk, and you should be fine.

Dreams Puerto Vallarta is very nice. We stayed in a room with an outdoor jacuzzi. I know other people don't think it is worth it, but I liked it a lot. Hearing the ocean water was amazing and the room itself was absolutely beautiful. I think it was well worth the upgrade. Speaking of upgrade, I was able to book through Apple vacations and got the same price as I would have for the old hotel on some of the other sites. I think it's worth looking there before booking anything.

What didn't I like? Well, there was always an upsell at Dreams. If you can get by that, get by people trying to sell Dreams timeshares, get by the people walking along the beach selling merchandise, then this hotel is literally perfect for you.

A few things:
- Wifi only worked in select areas. It's nice to have, but don't count on it working in the room.
- Food was very good. I did not like that certain restaurants were closed on certain days, and that they ran out of some of the major dishes. I know we went during an off period, but it would have been nice to get what I wanted at all times.
- The adults pool was amazing. We didn't try it until our last day and we wish we found it earlier. Very peaceful to be away from screaming kids.
- Hit or miss when it came to service. Bartenders often seemed to be happier talking amongst themselves, while some waiters did not pay as much attention as I would have liked. That said, we probably had the best server I've ever had in the Italian restaurant and one of the waiters by the adult pool did not stop moving the entire time we were there.

Why do I rate it a five? The beach was amazing. The food that was available on the beach was amazing. The 24 hour room service was amazing. I look back on my time there two months later as a really fun experience. Like I said, if you can get by the cross-selling, then this is definitely the place to go. My suggestion is to just say no upfront and then you should be fine.

Entertainment could have been better I suppose, and the fact it rained every night didn't help (we went in August, so it was expected), but we had a great time.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better. Yes every room had a patio, but when the patio looks into a tree...

My husband and I traveled to Dreams PV for our one year anniversary the week of September 23rd. We were instantly greeted from the taxi with a hot towel and some sort of fruity beverage. We checked in and had no issues with the check in process. Since it was our anniversary, we did have a happy anniversary banner and a basket and champagne waiting when we arrived. We stayed in the old tower which was just ok. The rooms are slightly outdated compared to the new tower, but we didn’t spend that much time in the room anyway. During our stay they were doing renovations in the old tower and it was fairly noisy during the day hours. During the late afternoons, we would head up to the room to take a nap (this was mainly because the rainy weather). One day our nap was interrupted with the sound of loud drilling and hammering, so my husband called the front desk and complained. They apologized and said they would ask them to stop. Within 5 minutes someone from the hotel staff was at our door letting us know they had asked the construction to stop and wanted to see if we needed anything else.

The service at the hotel was excellent. Anytime we needed anything we had it! Room service was always prompt and very friendly. The beach drink service was a little slow, so most of the time we walked to the bar ourselves. The drink service at the infinity pool and swim up bar was average. Because we were traveling in low season some restaurants were closed on certain days which caused the open restaurants to be more filled. It really didn’t bother us at all since we ate dinner in the 9 o’clock hour and most people were already done by that point. Our favorite restaurant was the Oceana. You have a beautiful view of the beach and it’s a really romantic setting. The entire staff at Dreams PV definitely goes the extra mile to make you feel at home. Weather it was the maid, wait staff, front desk staff or the bartenders everyone was super friendly and accommodating.

The resort had many activities planned every day, but we didn’t participate in any because we just wanted to relax. However, we did participate in the turtle release and it was a fun and unforgettable experience. We took a city tour one day and it was nice to get away and experience the local culture. We went to the tequila factory and had a blast! I would definitely recommend the city tour since it’s only half a day and it’s one of the less expensive tours they offer.

The resort offers a free photo shoot on the beach, so since it was our anniversary we decided to book a session. The photographer (can’t remember her name) was so sweet and friendly and her work was brilliant. The photos are a bit pricy, but since she was so great we ended up ordering quite a few. We also spend a day at the spa. It was amazing and very relaxing.

Overall we had an amazing anniversary trip and would recommend Dreams PV to our friends. Below are some helpful tips.

1.Order room service for breakfast. It’s much better than the food at the World Café.
2.If you are not in the mood to party and be around a lot of people there is sort of a hidden pool that is close to the old tower that has less people.
3.The mojitos are the best drink on the resort.
4.If you want to avoid the party crowd and have more alone time on the beach go to the north end (close to the old tower). Not as many people lay out down there.

Room Tip: All the rooms have a ocean view, so you can't really get a bad room!

Back home from a wonderful week long stay at Dreams Puerto Vallarta. I can't recommend this resort enough!! Everything about our week vacation was amazing. From check-in, to our amazing room in the preferred tower, to Beatriz finding us on our second day and asking how our vacation was going, was more than expected! The ground are beautiful, the food was wonderful, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Book a trip here, you won't regret it!

Room Tip: All the rooms are ocean view. If you can afford it, I'd book in the preferred tower.
