Maybe the best tacos I've ever had here. Lovely people, great food. Make sure to stay for dessert and have the homemade flan!

This is authentic, and different. Great food; great prices; great service. (The owner is THERE to serve you!!), He speaks English and serves great meals!! (We spend 4 months a year in PV. This is new, and great. Right on Basillo Badillo, in the Old Town, Zona Romantica. Really not a traditional "tourist Mexican Restaurant." It is very good, and very delicious, and much welcomed by all of us who live here. We come back and back.
A delightful menu of various tacos, and other more complex dishes, served, very traditionally, Mexican style, NOT like an American taco or burrito. You cannot go wrong by stopping in to Grill'o for lunch or dinner. The sauces are unique and delicious.
Try it. You will be delighted with the quality of the meal, and the price.

Our 4th visit to Grill'o on Basilio Badillo in Old Town Puerto Vallarta since they opened in the early summer. Who opens a restaurant in the summer? Somebody committed to creating a place where locals as well as visitors can go and feel like home - only the food is much better than at home! Great food and terrific service are the minimum for an "Excellent" rating. Grill'o goes beyond the minimum offering a very comfortable and unique ambiance. If you've used Spanish language flash cards to improve your vocabulary, you'll enjoy the wall decor in the main dining room, but do not miss the ceiling!! It took us two visits before we looked up. In this restaurant, you must look up! Closer to the kitchen (where the Grill'o grill is located), are two small bird cages containing the restaurant's namesake. Confused? You won't be!! Okay, that's almost enough about the service and decor, let's talk food! Grill'o offers real Mexican food unpolluted by what passes for Mexican food up north! Subtle well-balanced flavors from fresh, locally-grown ingredients are their specialty. Try the chicharon - a crispy fried cheese cornucopia perfect for dipping in a selection of savory sauces. You will recognize many of the items on the menu, but will be surprised by how light everything is. Who has room for dessert after a Mexican dinner? Guests at Grill'o do. The food is so light and agreeable there are no after dinner regrets so common to Mexican food! Alright, one more decor-focused comment and this could be the main thing we love about Grill'o - you can enjoy a conversation with friends in a quiet, comfortable restaurant without roving minstrels or blaring futbol announcers intruding in your conversations! The professional staff will make you feel welcome and answer your questions without getting in the way. A great place to be with friends at a very affordable price!
This was the first restaurant we visited in PV and I was skeptical, but boy the tacos are excellent. And the staff were very personable. We went back a few more times, frankly.
Stopped in on Saturday night as we figured we would try the new place in town.
Great service - these guys are new and they're trying to make a great first impression. It definitely worked (5 out of 5 stars).
The food was equally as good. We started with chips and guacamole, which were good (4 out of 5 stars). We had the steak and chorizo tacos (5 out of 5 stars) and the shrimp tacos (also 5 out of 5 stars).
We topped that off with a couple cold beers and a margarita.
Definitely a place worth checking out. And don't forget to draw a little something on the placemat - if you're lucky it might just end up on the wall!
