“Casa Fantasia - Great food and wonderful service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

My wife and I were in PV this last April and were staying in the 'Romantic Zone' south of the Rio Cuale. Upon a recommendation from a local shopkeeper, we were told to check out this recently opened restaurant that was already operating as a B & B called Casa Fantasia.
One enters this open air restaurant though a gate in a surrounding wall. Once inside you are in a classic Mexican villa courtyard with a central fountain. There are small trees and hanging shrubs around the perimeter walls and the two storey villa forms the backdrop. Seating surrounds the fountain and along the garden walls. There is usually some form of subtle live music that doesn't drowned out your conversation.
The service was attentive and friendly. Several servers took care of us and they all seemed to love what they were doing and made us feel welcome. When I asked for a lime margarita, our waiter asked if I would like a good margarita, or a better one. Returning to our table with a couple of different bottles of tequila, he described the difference between types (blanco, resposado, aneho, etc.) and once chosen, the drinks were mixed for us at the table side!
The food followed the same level of attention - just fantastic! Prepared fresh and presented beautifully. We visited this restaurant twice during our stay. on returning the second time, we were greeted with smiles, handshakes and they thanked us for coming back. Our same waiter told us he was honoured to have us back!
Our waiter told us they have been operating as a B & B for a few years, but just opened the restaurant in January 2013. If this is how they are doing things right out of the gate, this place is a gem in the southern part of Puerto Vallarta.
PS: Watch for the travelling Mariachi band. These come from outside the restaurant with a single member soliciting to do a song for you. If you agree (which we did) suddenly a seven member band surrounds your table and you are treated to the full Mexican experience! (Tips average 100 to 200 pesos for their performance).

“Delightful Casa Fantasia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

We had the good fortune to visit Casa Fantasia a number of times during our stay in Puerto Vallarta in February/March this year. It was a truly charming experience on each of our visits. The crab stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon was excellent. In fact dinners were so delicious, we decided to visit for breakfast on a couple of occasions and were not disappointed.
The lovely court yard lends a truly Mexican ambiance to complete the whole experience.

“Excellent new restaurant in PV”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013

We were the first guests at Casa Fantasia. For several weeks we watched the renovation and saw they would be opening at 5:00. On opening day, after leaving the beach, we walked up and at 5:10 the gate was still locked (Mexican time). We knocked on the door, just planning on having a drink. Once inside we were met by the manager who showed us to the bar, where Semone made some great drinks. We stayed for dinner which was excellent, but the service was very bad. When the owner's wife asked for comments, we told her and made some reccomendations. Later that week, the restaurant was closed for a couple days. We returned to find that the owners had taken many of their first customer's comments seriously and had closed to make adjustments. We returned several more times to find the drinks, food and service was good and improving.

“Pleasant retreat in middle of the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2013

Casa Fantasia restaurant is a very pleasant and welcoming surprise in the middle of old town.

The restaurant is connected to the B&B and just recently opened to the general public. Lucky for us they have expanded their offering.

The focus of the entries are Mexican, the setting charming and relaxing, service attentive and the food wonderful. It is very cost effective and portions more than adequate.

We ate there several times during our three week stay, the second time we invited four couples all of which had a great time and enjoyed their meals. Lunch is great but eating there for dinner is a special treat. The Thursday we were there had live music and we met several other neighbors in adjoining tables.

English is readily spoken, and our waiter had a delightful sense if humor.

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Having found this place just by walking by one afternoon, we decided to give it a try for dinner. There were 8 of us, and we had made reservations. We were seated promptly and drink orders were taken. The court yard with it's fountain is just beautiful and serene. Our dinners came after we had enjoyed our soup that was part of the meal. All our dinners were fantastic. The only draw back was, they let you enjoy your dinner and drinks and in no way rush you at all. We did have another engagement, so we had to skip dessert. Just a wonderful evening. Well, not that I wanted to miss dessert, the wife and I decided to try dinner again. The coconut shrimp and mahi mahi were cooked to perfection. And as we sat and listened to fine dinner music, we enjoyed our coffee's and dessert. Service and food is fantastic. And the setting is very Mexican. If you go allow time to take in the astmosphere and enjoy the evening.
