Very clean and modern, built in the European style with marble floors and walls in the hallways, the bathrooms very nice although the shower head needs to be replaced in Room 107 ..... but end tables should have standing lights (outlets are there, but not connections to any lamps ) ... and get rid of that old armoir /Tv cabinet

Nice breakfast area on the top floor .... a hearty breakfast but coffee that's a bit "weak". (thankfully, we always bring our own french press and a bold Italian roast) We liked the location very much ... two blocks from the Cathedral, one block from the River, two blocks from the beach.

If using the internet is important to you ..DON'T STAY HERE .... "Dial Up" would be faster .... and uploading a picture is all but impossible ..... the system is in need of replacement, modem is obsolete. Even the computers provided in the lobby are slow. The elevator is as well .... 3 minutes to get from floor 1 to 4 .... not counting the time it takes for it to arrive.

No need to set your alarm for morning wake-up ... the daily garbage trucks loading up along the street at 6 am are sure to wake you.

We stayed for 5 nights, and were very satisfied with the service. Very close to all the attraction, and had lovely view of the Cathedral. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ample and tasty. We would stay here again and won't hesitate to recommend to friends.

This was our first trip to Puerto Vallarta and our stay at Puerto Alegre was such a pleasant surprise. The hotel entrance is on a quiet street 2 short blocks from the start of the Malacon. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the rooms well appointed and the beds comfortable. Breakfast included such items as made to order eggs, potatoes, rice, refried beans, pancakes, fresh fruit, cereal, orange juice, tea and coffee and a beautiful view of Our Lady of Guadalupe church. The pool is very small and suitable for cooling off, not for swimming. We will definitely come back next time we visit Puerto Vallarta.

Room Tip: Upgraded rooms offer a jacuzzi tub and a shower but the windows are small and do not open (no balcony). The rooms are darker due to this, but tend to stay cooler.

We stayed at Alegre for 5 nights and were very impressed with both the service and the value. For $53/night we got a very clean modern room (very comfy bed!) with air conditioning. Breakfast for two, which was custom ordered, and a base in the center of town. The staff was consistently extremely helpful with helping us find taxi's, charter boats, and just being generally friendly.
There is a wading pool on the roof but it is very small. Just a dipping pool really. Despite the size though we enjoyed having a cool dip in the evenings with drinks brought to the pool side.

2 cons: The wifi in the room goes in and out and there is a church nearby which rings bells early in the morning and we had only 50% success in sleeping through it.

All in all the price/value of this hotel is excellent.

We stayed there the first week of March, it's a very nice hotel close to everything, the people are friendly, especially the staff who work in the kitchen. Rooms are clean, WFi not so good. Bkfast. needs a variety, overall I will stay here again.
