This was our first trip to Canto Del Sol for me, my husband and our 5 year old daughter. We have travelled to Cuba and the Dominican Republic several times, and Cuba is still number one on our list!! With that being said, we are not particulate people. We want to relax, spend family time together and get to know the residents / culture.

BEWARE OF THE TIMESHARE BUSINESS:
- Upon arrival at the airport, we were immediately sucked in my men in white uniforms who were timeshare sales people. We did not catch on at first because they asked what resort we were staying at and once we said Canto, their reply was "oh, you need to come over here for information..." this led to timeshare information and free tequila shots to get you in a drunken state to sign up!

- When we finally got off the bus and entered our resort to check in, we were immediately approached by a hotel worker and told we were to meet at 9:00 the following morning to be informed on the timeshare experience...my husband and I both obliged, but eventually caved in upon the pressure and the fact that the sales guy would not leave us alone. We did listen to the speil and got the "tour", then was approached by another timeshare staff...

- One morning, we were at the restraurant (buffet) having breakfast and was sitting next to a timeshare person pressuring a senior into investing in timeshare. The sales person was very rude, and asked him, "what else are you going to do with your money??". I was quite distrubed on how persistent this sales person was taking or trying to take advantage of this man and asked to be moved to another table.

OTHER DETAILS OF OUR STAY AT CANTO DEL SOL:
- The hotel itself is small, clean and a good bang for your buck. The rooms were small but comfortable.
- The food was "ok". Had better buffets / snack bars in Cuba.
- The snack bar was always out of burgers, fries etc.
- The service is awesome!! Friendly staff and they go out of their way to accomodate you.
- The Grill a' la cart was awesome! The Spanish Coffee was delicious - a must try!!
- The pool was good only be sure throw your towel on a lounger in the morning. Even thou a sign advises not to reserve loungers, hotel guests do, and you may not get one.
- The beach was ok, but the ocean was too rough to swim in and the red flags were always raised. You can also overhear locals trying to sell non-perscription goods to tourist in which authorities arrested someone one evening during our stay.
- The night shows were satisfactory. There is no entertainment for the kids if you are seeking pleasure for them...in fact, the shows should be rated PG.
- The free bottles of water in your room to brush your teeth, are NOT free. You have to pay for them at the end of the holiday.
- If travelling with a spouse, partner or friend, this will be a perfect place to visit however, I do not recommend this resort to families with younger children.

Room Tip: Not a resort to visit with young kids.. You can upgrade your room for no charge if unsatisfied with your view.

We spent two weeks here as a time share exchange. The rooms were comfortable and large enough. We couldn't sleep with our sliding glass door open because of the noise and cigarette smoke from other's decks. If it wasn't the other guests making noise it was the staff cleaning the open air restaurant in the middle of the night. Staff was friendly enough, but wouldn't consider going back.

the rooms were small, but very clean, there was room for an extra cot for our friend. We weren't in the room much anyway because we were out exploring and shopping. the meals were great, lots to pick from and the restaurant staff were very friendly. You could also pick an Italian restaurant. The only thing, on the last day that we left, our plane left at 3:40 in the morning and we had to be out of our room at 11 a.m. the day before, it's too bad we would have had to pay $75.00 extra, which we didn't want to. The hotel said we could freshen up in a different room for free and they stored our luggage. All in all, it was a very good holiday and I would go there again.
