Sad to say but the resort is bit outdated and not very well kept up. Although clean, it is rough and definitely needs a facelift. We seem to have come at a bad time as we were the only people at the resort that were from US or Canada, we found out that this is the busiest time of year for the Mexican people to travel to the PV resorts and because of this, there was no English in any of the nightly plays or in any of the daily activities. We also found that if you wanted any sleep, this would have to be found between 1 am and 5 am as there was lot of noise from drinking, visiting and children constantly running around and slamming doors. If you do get any sleep, you need to make sure not to be surprised by the small lizards living in the bathroom behind mirrors and in the light fixtures...although they do not bite, they squirm around a lot and is sort of uncomfortable to see. Food was ok however was mostly Mexican style with a bit of spice. Staff was mostly very friendly, however did encounter a few that did not speak English and because of this, didnt even try..this was especially true with the female bartender in the front lobby. This resort is one I would not go back to and would not recommend for any people expecting English incorporated into all the resort activities, nightly performances, ect in the summer time.

Room Tip: beach is pebbles and rock..bring water shoes

After a very stressful fall, my husband and I, decided to get away for a week to unwind and relax. We purchased an all inclusive package through Sunwing to this resort. What a mistake! We are both avid travellers and this was a last minute deal for a steal. I guess that should have been our number one warning. We were told someone would pick us up from the airport when we arrived. Nobody was there. We finally found someone and it took over an hour for them to finally get on the road. We arrived at the resort and were taken to our room, it smelled like sewer. We asked to be given a new room and were offered the one bedroom suite. We moved to that room and it was so dirty (as you can see in the pics that the furniture was black!) I wouldn't even sit on the couch! Our view was an unfinished hotel next door. The professional pictures of this hotel definitely do not show what is really there! Right outside the rooms and in front of the pool is a huge 5 or 6 storey hotel that was abandoned halfway through construction! It's a complete eye sore! There is no beach front at all, to get to the beach you have to walk over this stagnant body of water between rundown hotels that are half constructed and mostly over grown by weeds and bushes. We spent no time on the beach.

The food offered in the all inclusive package was bland at best and we opted out of most meals. Just to get some food that tasted somewhat like mexican we spent a lot of time downtown Puerto Vallarta at restaurants there. We did everything we could just to get away from this hotel. We did timeshare presentations and went to movies! How disappointing.

The last straw was on our third day there, we decided to take a dip in the pool. My husband is lily white and very blond so he has to wear a shirt at all times or he burns to a crisp. The "security guard" told him to take the shirt off or get out of the pool! We were shocked. We headed to the concierge and found our Sunwing representative and he agreed to find us another resort! We moved that afternoon and the rest of our trip was perfect and the exact amount of relaxing that we needed.

It is a very nice and clean 3 star all-inclusive hotel, location super, walking distance to Downtown, it looks like a small mexican style village, the service is very friendly and had good service.

Food is good and wide variety, in accordance with the low rates, it has good entertainment, rooms are spacious, free mexican drinks as tequila margaritas, daiquiri, etc.

A lot of of beach and swiming pool activities, many atracctions around, shoping malls, restaurants, boutiques, next door to Bugambilias Sheraton, a lot of public transportation, taxis, buses, etc.

It is unfinished building next that is no verty nice view.

the food was forgettable as it is at most 2-3star resorts. This resort had good service though, that was friendly. The Mexican style architecture with the authentic Mexican nightly entertainment made this vacation worth the expense. A large unfinished resort that stood between Costa Club and the beach was a huge eyesore that needs to go. The Malecon provides good shopping and beach sculptors that are truly talented, and get tips for their works of art made of sand. The iguanas are entertaining as are the( Muscovy, I believe) ducks that live along the river nearby.

Just got back yesterday after spending one week at the Costa Club. While it is not the Bates Motel, it did not live up to the standards of Fawlty Towers. Our first night was in tower 3 but we asked to be moved due to extremely loud karaoke at the lobby bar which rattled our patio doors until past 1AM. Our new room in tower 13 was somewhat quieter except for the kids who liked to pound on doors and run away after the pool closed. They obviously have only one set of towels, barely enough for all rooms as the towels were removed when housekeeping made up the room but fresh towels did not come back until 5 or 6 o'clock.
The food, while plentiful, had chicken as the main dish for every lunch and dinner and even for some breakfasts. Hot dog weiners masqueraded as sausages throughout the week and liver and onions seemed an unusual brakfast selection even to some Mexicans we spoke to.
Although seating at the pool and beach was technically not supposed to be reserved, they were covered with a towel or a shoe by 8 am every morning with not a seat to be found. Bar service was OK.
The à la carte restaurant had a good athmosphere and good service but the food was mediocre at best.
The resort was clean but maintainance was obviously a significant issue. Most of the staff were just going through the motions and had little care or concern for quest comfort. Two notable exceptions were Wendy at the lobby bar and Genesis at reception. Both of these young ladies went above and beyond.
All in all, a stay at the Costa Club is not an experience we would likely repeat.

Room Tip: There may not be a good room.

We are just back from a week at Costa Club (Mar.23-30). We were pleasantly surprised at the resort. We had a huge room in Tower 15 with a king size bed. The room was cool and had plenty of hot water and was quiet by 10 pm. Our stay coincided with Semana Santa, Mexico's biggest holiday. There were many tourists from all over the country. Our resort was 99% Mexcan families. It was great to be imersed in their language and culture. People were friendly and the staff went out of their way for us. The resort was clean and well kept. There was plenty of food with enough variety for the week .our location was very central with easy access to taxis and busses to go wherever we wanted to. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

An older hotel, that they keep very clean, and are improving the entrance, with a new palapa, fresh paint and friendly front desk. It is an all inclusive, but we went downtown for most of our drinks and meals. It is what you pay for. Clean, cheap, lots of hot water.
