“Nice Place and Great Location”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

My friend and I were there for one week in April. We got a 1 bedroom suite on the 3rd floor, in building 2 with ocean and pool view. The rooms were always kept very clean with turndown service. You should tip for both daily and for turndown service, The beach was clean and warm with lot of seats and umbrellas to hang out under. The Gardens and pools were well kept. Two pools, one for adult and one childrens pool. There were vendors on the beach however, they were polite and left you alone when stating "No, Gracias".

Excellent service in the rooms bars, restaurants the staff were very friendly and helpful. Happy Hour at bars were great. The 2X1 buffets are great to with a lot of choices, however, it was the same food everyday. The food was excellent and not pricey compared to marina restaurants. The resort is located next to the Marina that has lots of restaurants and shops and within walking distance.

BEWARE: Watch out for the Taxi to the airport. The frontdesk and bellmen stated $5.00 USD or 60 Pesos. But once I got into the cab and arrived at the aiport the Taxi wanted $15.00 USD or 180 Pesos. So Watch out! This happened to me and my travelling friend which we took 2 seperate Taxi's and left the hotel at different times. She was smart she gave him the 60 Pesos and entered the airport!

Room Tip: If you want a pure ocean view stay higher than the 4th floor in the 2nd Building. Just remember the...

Our vacation was a RCI exchange. We fell for the presentation for the other Mayan location. We were promised one and half hour with free breakfast. We were there for 5 hours!!! If you have a day to spare you will enjoy the other resort, free breakfast and credit on your bill plus discounts on messages. We own a time share and were not interested and it still took us 5 hours to get out of there. PV is a great city, clean well armed (police) and great food. You can eat tacos for $2 or lobster for $28 all types of budgets. We ate at the little diner across the street...take advantage of 2 for 1 beers. Walmart is a breeze and close. Daily maid service was great, and prompt. Pool side and around has happy hour.....just make sure you get your drinks from the correct location or they are a fortune. There are two separate pools, kids with activities and adult with swim up bar. Nice clean beach, plenty of seating, lounge chairs, beds etc. There are vendors on the beach but are kept at bay from the resort. Great week and would stay again. Getting into and out of PV airport was ok experience. US Airway was a 5 hour delay...may be fly United..The overall prices in PV was comp to the united states when it came to buying food for the room...oh by the way they say there is a kitchen lol....2burners like hot plates and small dorm room refrig..can't hold much....sorry that is my negative.

We booked a two bedroom with kitchen, living and dinning. It was great! I read different reviews before leaving for Puerto Vallarta and was starting to think I made a mistake. I'm glad we reserved at the Mayan Palace as we really enjoyed our week with our two grown daughters. We wanted to give them a week of pure relaxation. The resort was very clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. We spent alot of time around the pool sipping tropical drinks from the many Happy Hours. The 2X1 buffets and other meals were great as even though we had a kitchen in our suite, we opted to eat out. The location was great! The resort is located next to the Marina that has lots of resturants and shops. Los Palmas resturant was very nice and we heard Victor's was good too. Two of our three excursions we left from the Marina. The other excursion, we left from the edge of the Marina. Los Veranas Zip Line was alot of fun. Our daughters thought that was the highlight of our trip. The Rythums of the Night was a boat ride to a secluded beach lit by torches and candles. We enjoyed a wonderful meal and show the rest of the evening. We enjoyed taste testing at the tequilla shops in town. The strawberry cream was especially good of which we bought 3 bottles to bring back in our checked on luggage. We did go snorkelling and we did see tropical fish but were not overly impressed as we had snorkelled before where you could see the bottom or the reef. We were only in the water about 20 minutes. The tour did drop us at beach where we had lunch. The chicken and hamburgers were not as warm as they could have been. We swam in the ocean with pelicans diving in for fish all around us. That was fun. The city buses and cabs were cheap. One day we caught a city bus to Bucerias to the market and strolled on the huge sandy beach. That was another great day. We only had a week holiday so I firmly said no to the timeshare presentation as I didn't want to waist my time or theirs. Our suite didn't have much of a view but as I've said, we weren't in the room except to sleep and change. I would highly recommend this resort as we all greatly enjoyed our holiday. I booked our transport from the airport to the Mayan Palace (only about 5 minutes) and our excursions before we left on our holiday. It was very easy and alot less hassel. There were alot of vendors and store owners so just be strong and say "No Thanks". Everyone wants to be your friend when you have money in your pocket.

My husband and I got married on the beach at the Mayan Palace and it was absolutely gorgeous! The staff was great, the room was clean and overall service at the hotel was 5 star. Other incredible features of this hotel are: the pool area is very large and accommodating, food at the hotel is good, staff is helpful, there is security on the premises at all times and there is immediate transportation outside of the hotel doors via a taxi or bus. I would highly recommend taking a bus to and from downtown since it is only about 70 cents for one person both ways and taxi drivers tend to make-up their own prices. There is also a small marina within walking distance from the hotel (approx. 15 min) with food, boating and bars. Overall, the vacation in Puerto Vallarta was amazing and we did not feel unsafe at any point in time so don't believe everything you read. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to relax or wanting to explore Mexico!

As other reviewers had mentioned, after check in you do get sent to another person that offers for you to do a presentation for a room upgrade and a free tour (we did zip lining). We agreed to the presentation because we did want the upgrade and and the free tour and at this point we knew how to handle the people at the presentations. Overall, the room was great and cleaned perfectly everyday. The view was fabulous and the beach was clean and warm with lots of seats and umbrellas to hang out under. We did eat at the buffet restaurant for the two for one hours both for dinner and breakfast. It was a great deal and the food was probably the best I've had for a buffet. My only gripe is that we got a room with two double beds and ended up having to sleep in seperate beds because the one bed was too small. Other than that I would definitely come back again.

As for the whole timeshare thing, don't let it scare you. If you have been to Puerto Vallarta before you know that this won't be the only place that you will be hasseled to do a presentation for a timeshare. If you hold out long enough, the gifts are worth it (i.e. free tours, boat parties, zip lining, free breakfast, money etc.). You just need to have patience and know to say no when you actually go to a presentation. We went to two presentations that took a total of maybe 4 hours of our trip, but we got 3 free activities, room upgrade, and round trip transportation to/from airport.

I was fortunate enough to stay at the Mayan Palace in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The resort was fantastic! We were upgraded to the Grand Mayan rooms and they are so nice. We had a kitchen wonderful bedroom suite with living area. The hotel was within walking to the beach area. They have VERY nice pools around the resort my favorite being the huge infinity pool on the beach.
I had only 2 complaints with this resort: the first, they would not give us a ride to the resort entrance so we could take bus to downtown Puerto Vallarta, we had to walk both ways. Second, they would not exchange peso/dollars.
Overall, the food, views, swimming, staff and the room was fantastic and I would recommend staying at the Mayan Palace to anyone vacationing romantically or with their families.
