Reviewed November 4, 2012

We were here late October for 10 days in a Honeymoon suite. The short version is that we would definitely stay here again. The plentiful and professional staff here makeup for any shortcomings and made the stay a pleasurable and memorable one. The long version...

The service here is quite good. From the minute you arrive, you are greeted by a cool face towel, glass of champagne, and a mini-massage. You also get to choose from a pillow menu and aromatherapy. There’s a “personal” butler, daily maid service, and a nightly turn down (where they make figures out of your towels and leave treats on the bed). About the only bump in the road we encountered here was the front desk. There were a couple of minor things (forgetting to get a room number or name from us so a request wasn’t executed) and one fairly annoying incident where the front desk granted us a late checkout , but forgot to actually put it into effect!

Unfortunately a generally wonderful staff won’t be the only thing that greets you. There is fairly constant construction noise which apparently will last until at least some time in mid-November. From what we could tell it seems to go on 7 days a week for 10-12 hours a day starting around 8-9 a.m.

The kid-free accommodations had good features and amenities and were generally nice and comfortable. There were some minor annoying details like a non-working lock on the sliding glass door, an un-level toilet which meant you couldn’t keep the seat up, a not-so-cold mini-fridge / mini-bar (which does NOT include any hard alcohol), etc. Also having free hotel-wide internet was nice, but several times a day the connection would be lost or become nearly unusably slow. The gym, as advertised, was well equipped.

The main pool is nice and roomy, you can easily swim laps in it. It also has “bench” seating on one side so you can sit half submerged in the pool. The secondary pool has the swim up bar. The pools are surrounded by cabanas on the beach and a couple of neat ones with “floating” beds right by the main pool). There are also several lounge chairs as well. During our stay it wasn’t an issue, but I could see how availability of these could be an issue in high-season.

You can smoke by the pool, the pool bar, sections of the restaurant, and balconies. Also if you’re by the beach at all (at the swim-up bar, secondary pool, the cabanas, or even parts of the restaurant), you’ll be engaged by the beach vendors. Depending on who you are, these can be either good or bad things.

Generally the food was outstanding, artfully presented, quite tasty, and served by a warm friendly staff. If you are going to eat a good portion of your meals here (or partake in enough drinking), the all-inclusive plan is the only way to go. We heard (unfortunately on our last day there), that although you can add an additional tip by charging it to you room, it is FAR better to leave cash with the bill instead (as this immediately goes directly to the people that waited on you while the tip charged to your room is shared with each person receiving a % based on position). It is important to note that only 1 of the 3 restaurants and 1 of the 2 bars mentioned on the hotel’s website are open (though they do rotate the menu in the one restaurant each day so that it is not the same cuisine)

We also did a couple of spa treatments (massages), which we found pampering and relaxing experiences. This is the first time we ever did spa treatments so we can’t really compare it to others, but we would find it hard to believe they would be much more luxurious than this.

Although cooking and cocktail preparation workshops were advertised on website, nobody seemed to know about any of them when we inquired about them.

Again, the people here really make the difference and make this a worthwhile place to stay

Room Tip: If you’re not planning on using the outdoor Jacuzzi a deluxe or premiere room would probably do just...

Keep in mind we have been there 5 times, so we may be a little prejudice. We always stay at the Villa Premiere because 1.) all the rooms face the ocean, 2.) no children can stay at the hotel, 3.) the service is outstanding from the registration experience including that wonderful mini massage upon arrival to the friendly staff who always seem to remember you, 4.) to the great food experience - a varied menu and they will even prepare anything you like your way even if it's not on the menu, and 5.) convenience of walking to the Malecon to experience the culture of Puerta Vallarta and of course the shopping! This trip the hotel was renovating their new Italian restaraunt and it was a little noisy at times during the day but the hotel made a great effort to keep that to a minimum. The great news is it will be completed shortly and those to follow should have an even greater dining experience on their visit to the Villa Premiere.

Room Tip: All rooms face the ocean so the higher floors have better views. (There are only seven floors to the...

My boyfriend and I spent 6 nights at the Villa Premiere in late October for some much needed R&R. The check-in experience was great (cool towels, champagne, and massage), but this was unfortunately offset by some very loud construction they were performing on their new restaurant. While the construction was loud and annoying at times, we were happy to see the improvements they were making and look forward to eating at the new restaurant during our next stay. We booked a premiere suite, which was clean, cool, and had a beautiful view of the ocean.

Note: If you do not have any plans on using the in-room jacuzzi tub, save yourself the extra money and go with the basic deluxe room instead of the premiere suite. My sister and brother-in-law had one of these rooms, which was just as nice, also had an ocean view (all rooms do), and had more room to move around because it didn't have the tub (it was too hot and humid to really use it anyways...).

We were pleasantly surprised by the food. While the daily menu was somewhat limited, the staff was incredibly flexible and was willing to create us anything we wished. The dining room service was a little inconsistent at times, but overall, most of our dining experiences were great. The pool-side service was AMAZING! We originally arrived with high aspirations of excursions, but the pool, loungers, cabanas, and attentive staff made it difficult to justify going offsite for the day. When we managed to peel ourselves away from the poolside drinks and food, it was a short walk to the taco stands (we recommend the Malecon restaurant for carne asada and al pastor tacos) and the Melicon walkway.

Overall, we had a great experience. We met great people and much of the staff felt like friends by the time we left. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Room Tip: Go with the deluxe room if you aren't certain you will use the jacuzzi tub in the premiere suite...

This is a good place to stay if you are interested in being downtown, close to the Malecon, which is the newly-renovated esplanade on the shore featuring restaurants and shops. The hotel staff is uniformly pleasant and the facility is clean and well-maintained. Our room was very comfortable and well-appointed. However, the service was uneven and the hotel was undergoing renovation during our stay which meant that unpleasant construction noise was ongoing next to the pool. The food is excellent, although allow a lot of time for meals as food service is extremely slow. The travel agency in the lobby is very good for tours and excursions. Finally, as always when traveling, audit your bill very carefully when checking out. We caught several "mistakes" such as credits not applied properly, etc. which would have cost us several hundred dollars. Otherwise, a decent place to stay in P.V.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are farther away from the construction. The master suite was worth the money...

We were there for a wedding and the rooms are geat small hotel with 6 different rooms. A pillow menu and aromas of all types the bottom line this hotel is one of the best I have stayed in for a small hotel. Walk to the new downtown and it is only 2 blocks. All the rooms look over the ocean. And no kids screaming at the pool. Best surprise is the message you get when you arrive..

Room Tip: Honeymoon suite or the Master..

Me and my husband took a long weekend to to go to Puerto Vallarta. I decided to stay at Villa Premiere after reading reviews on tripadvisor. We wanted an adults only resort and the pictures looked beautiful. The staff was friendly and we were greeted with a glass of bubbly and offered a mini massage. We took the drink but refused the massage. After a long day of travelling I just wanted to get into our room. There was a mix up with the room and we got a room with 2 queen size beds instead of the king we asked for. There was apparently no king available that day so they told us we could move the next day. The next day there was still a lot of confusion about the room, but we were eventually moved into an upgraded room that was very beautiful and we were really happy with it. The food was good. We loved the pool and hanging around on the lounger reading or going for a dip in the ocean. The best part was being so close to town and the Melicon walkway along the ocean.
The all inclusive doesn't include bottles of wine in the room. We tried ordering one to pay for ourselves, but couldn't seem to get that understood and we were told we could only have glasses. Not a big deal but next time we'd make sure we stopped at a liquor store.
There was construction going on, but it didn't bother us.
Over all we had a really good time at this resort.

Room Tip: It seemed like the queen size beds were smaller then the one we're used to sleeping in, which wa...

My wife and I stayed at the Villa Premiere a few years back and enjoyed our trip so much that we decided to return to celebrate my Birthday this past January. Going back for the second time was great fun. The Villa Premiere is perfect for us, an adult-only hotel that has comfortable rooms, a nice pool area, and nice options on the beach - hammocks, canopy beds, and lounge chairs. An added feature that my wife took advantage of was the morning yoga sessions. Half the days of the week the Villa Premiere hosts the Yoga class and the other days the hotel next door, the Buenaventura does so.

We reserved a basic room and it easily met our needs. When on vacation, we spend very little time in the room, basically just to sleep, shower, and reset for the next day. The Villa Premiere has met our needs in those aspects both times we've visited.

We were certainly impressed with the welcoming and friendly staff. The check-in is easy and they offer a good exchange rate. The attendants who receive taxis are always friendly and warmly greet you whatever the hour. They're very helpful getting a taxi to pick you up and assist in getting the taxi driver completely aware of your destination. My wife knows some passable Spanish but this little touch is a comfort.

We got expert help from the concierge. Since it was my birthday, we were interested in a nice birthday evening dining experience. She recommended a couple of restaurants, one of which I had some previous knowledge of. Once selected, she was quickly on the phone to secure a reservation. We ended up with a very nice dinner, sitting outside with a wonderful view of old-town below, and with a great view of the sunset.

The Villa Premiere is an easy walk down to PV's tourist central, the Malecon. We generally walked the 10-15 minutes to the Malecon, PV's main tourist shopping area, restaurant area, and entertainment area. We walked down in the morning and generally caught taxis for afternoon returns or for late-night returns.

The weather was perfect in January. We were comfortable in sandals, shorts, and light shirts during the day. My wife did carry a sweater or light jacket for the cooler evening temps.

We enjoyed afternoon time at the pool. My wife likes to sun. The Villa Premiere provides a few options for doing so. They've pool-side lounge chairs that we used the most. For an afternoon nap and when they were available, we'd move down to the beach to use the canopy beds. There's nothing better than a comfortable nap on the beach, shielded, if you want, from the sun.

We're likely to explore other cities in Mexico in the future but my wife and I agree that we could return to PV and the Villa Premiere in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: All rooms have a view of the ocean but the higher the floor the better the view.
