The rooms were not large, but were clean and worked fine for us. The price was by far the lowest we found. It was in the old part of town with good restaurants nearby. Staff was friendly. I'd go again.

After travelling around Mexico for six weeks I ended my trip in Hotel Ana Liz (Puerto Vallarta). I stayed for two weeks and enjoyed every day of it thanks to the friendliness of the staff and the service they provided. I was made to feel right at home from the moment I arrived / checked in.
Wi-Fi here is limited to the reception area or the upstairs guest lounge, (which is a nice place to meet other guests staying at Ana Liz). The strength of the wi-fi is strong and I never experienced slow internet here like I had in other hotels. It's unlimited also, so staying in touch with friends / family or watching movies will not be a problem.
Initially I had no TV in my room, but after asking nicely, the owner put one in my room without any additional cost.
Staying for extended periods can cut your bill considerably. I was paying 200 pesos/night which in the great scheme of things, is next to nothing for what I thought to be a really top notch place to stay.
Room cleanliness was the best I'd experienced in all of Mexico. The maids were really quick working their magic on the room every day and always left it looking brand new / smelling fresh. The maids were trustworthy and friendly.
Although there are no gym facilities here, there is a Power Fitness Gym just around the corner on the same block as Ana Liz that charges as little as 25 pesos per day for full use of their equipment / showers.
Location is a step back from the over-crowded beach scene (thank god), and gives a sense of the "real Mexico". However, if the beach is what you are after, then it's only a 5 minute walk through the cobbled streets of Old Vallarta, or another option is through the tree-clad island of Isla Cuale.
Finally, unlike a previous reviewer I did not experience any insect infestation, so no worries on that front.
