Our group of 11 took a private city tour of the Puerto Vallarta area through Superior Tours Vallarta on April 16, 2013. We were met at our hotel by our host and driver, Hector, who was 15 minutes early. As he pointed out, he doesn't like to be late. Our transportation was a large and very comfortable van that easily accomodated all 11 of us. From 9am til almost 4pm, Hector took us all over, starting with the lesser visited local areas to see how the non-tourists live and on to the tourist attractions. Then south for stops at a roadside market and a few drinks at a restaurant with a magnificent view of Banderas Bay. Then south again through Mismaloya (Night of the Iguana was filmed there) to a family Tequila factory with plenty of tastings. Lunch was at a terrific restaurant overlooking a river with huge boulders. There was a diver there at the river that dove off the boulders and it looked so dangerous that some of our group found it hard to watch. Then back north with a few more scenic stops and back home to our hotel. Hector was extremely knowlegeable of not only the PV area but all things Mexico. He accomodated our every request and never rushed us in our touring and was professional in every detail.
I wish we had booked another tour or two with Superior Tours Vallarta, but our week went by so fast. They are a very reliable and professional group. Definitely consider using them if you want to see the Puerto Vallarta region. And, by the way, their prices are very reasonable. Our almost 7 hour private tour was a flat $300 (USD) which was only about $27 per person. I believe smaller groups can be well taken care of also. Thanks, Hector!
