First we had a great food tour of Downtown Puerto Vallarta with Amazing Amanda. We had been on an evening food tour with her last year, and so were thrilled when she turned out to be our guide this time around. Two Canadians did not show up for the tour, so it was just the three of us and Amanda. We explored all sorts of delicious corners of PV. Amanda is knowledgeable and passionate about food and happy to answer questions. We had a great time with her and would highly recommend this tour. Tuba water~ who knew! Two days later we made our way to nearby Pitillal where we met up with Superlative Shawnie. She lives in Pitillal and takes great pride in showing off her town with it's lovely plaza and beautiful church. She took us to great stops that we would never have found on our own and introduced us to some new tastes. Again, it was just the three of us with Shawnee, so she was very kind to help us find a few items we had been searching for (Milagros, watch band) along the course of our tour. She is an entertaining story teller and we really had fun with her. At the end of both Shawnie's and Amanda's tour they polled us for our favorite stop. Everything was so good that this was a difficult task, but oh those tamales! Vallarta Food Tours is a well run business, easily booked and all information provided (directions, maps, handy lists of all the places visited). Easy walking, but wear sensible shoes for cobbled streets. Both tours were about 3 hours in length. Highly recommended for those wanting to experience authentic local food with great guides!

We love Vallarta Food Tours. My wife and I have taken 4 different ones in PV. On our most recent PV trip, we did the new Vallarta by Road Food Tour with Amanda. She is so knowledgeable about food ingredients and their Mexican heritage, as well as the preparation techniques. As aPV native, Amanda also shared her experiences as the child of Americans growing up in PV. She explains topics well and understandably and has a very friendly and pleasant demeanor. We visited seven places in PV and Pitillal that gave us a good selection of different meats and preparations. The tour ended perfectly with a chocolate taco! The van was clean and newer and very comfortable. We highly recommend Vallarta Food Tours.

What a tour what a guide! We did the Mexology tour with Amanda and can’t recommend it enough. We never thought we were going to learn anything on the tour but wow did we ever. All while laughing and drinking tequila, mezcal and raiciya. We will come back to Puerto Vallarta next year and do this tour with our friends! Thanks for showing us such a great time!

Tips:
1. Bring an appetite
2. Go on the tour at the beginning of your stay
3. Ask for Amanda

We did the downtown evening tour and had a blast! Be sure to show up hungry because it’s a lot of food. It’s a great way to get to know Mexico and a wonderful beginning for our trip. Amanda was great!

Great tour with Amanda who’s knowledge of food and the locale is unsurpassed. Born in Mexico of American parents, she has a degree in culinary arts and a deep history of food and how it is prepared. What a great combination! Food stops were terrific. I had never tasted a great tamale until we went to Cenaduria Tia Aniya. The Yucatán taco at Antojeria Phbil was unusual and delicious. The atmosphere at Abulon was special and the food was equally good.
