This is an unique property in the fact that two hotels Now Amber and Secrets share the same arrival area and then split into 2 different hotels that basically mirror one another. Now Amber allows children and Secrets does not. There are no wristbands or reservations required at any of the restaurants (except for the Japanese grill). We ate at all of the restaurants, food is a matter of opinion and in ours we were satisfied at each restaurant. The food choices were varied, the service was good in all of them, although sometimes slow. I ordered something not offered on the menu at lunch and was happily granted my special order! The waiters keep up with bar service the best they can based on demand and the amount of bartenders to make the actual drinks! Patience is a virtue, these people work hard and fast to make you happy! You can have lunch delivered right to your pool chair or room service right to your room. The pool chair situation is what it is. If you want to sit in the same spot everyday then you will have to get up and get it, if you are flexible you will never want for a chair as there are plenty to go around! The main pool was heated and too warm in the hot afternoon sun, the other pools were cooler. The beach is groomed daily but rocky to walk, it is just the tide and location. The rooms were small but comfortable, the balconies were disappointing for me, I like to sit outside and have a drink or coffee and the balcony was very small and narrow with just a small table and 2 uncomfortable chairs, not somewhere where you will want to spend any amount of time sitting. That being said, all rooms here for the most part have a beautiful ocean view. We were on the 8th floor and had a gorgeous view of the ocean full front on! I would not pay for the upgrade not enough was offered there to justify it. The internet was hit and miss, but was attainable in the lobby if you brought a computer or ipad. There was free international calls to the US that was a nice perk! There is no nightlife here, some small shows but when they are done you are left to make your own fun or listen to music in the lobby, Many people our week went into town and talked about it at the pool the next day! We are not club or bar scene people so that did not interest us. They did have a nice Oscar Party we attended that and they did a great job making that event special. We moved freely between the two resorts and their bars and restaurants, when we wanted to get away from other peoples children we could do that by just going over to the Secrets side. There were vendors on the beach everyday, just something to watch or look at they were for the most part respectful when you said no. Just to mention, we did go directly outside the gate of the hotels to both massage places and we were not disappointed! Massages were 25.00 for 1 hour plus a nice tip as the manager keeps the 25.00 you need to tip the gal that actually gives the massage or she does not get paid! The atmosphere was authentic Mexico, clean and efficient. If you are looking for NYC spa atmosphere, then stick to the very expensive Hotel Spa! I have been to over 20 all inclusive properties and I would return here it was nice and the staff was able and willing to help. Just a side note, our balcony was not cleaned when we got to our room and the floor was very gritty, we made them aware and they took care of the issue. We did not get turn down 2 nights and one day had to call for room cleaning until we called at 4:30 in the afternoon. Housekeeping is unreliable and needs work here!

Room Tip: Get a higher floor to get an unobstructed view of the ocean! Upgrade does not provide enough upgrad...

If I had to choose one word to describe this resort it would be "FABULOUS"! Everything from the staff, accomodations, food, and atmosphere were fantastic!!! I even enjoyed the nightly entertainment that I usually skip at other resorts!!! This place is must!!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the preferred tower on the 8th floor... amazing views!!!!

My family has stayed at many(over a dozen) all inclusives. Now Amber is the W of all-inclusives. It was a little more hip, by far the best food and a ten on service. A couple of things we do not like about all-inclusives are the food and cruise ship corny mentality. This place has made of those two points a myth. The property is small, but you never notice. Your water or whatever you are drinking is never empty. The food and fruit are always fresh. The staff is truly over the top. They were great in suggesting day trips that we're not part of a tour group. Check out the town of Saylulita while you are there. It is an awesome surf village. We usually go to the Caribbean coast of Mexico, but we are going back to Now.

Room Tip: All rooms have an ocean view

Wow. I had never stayed in an all inclusive before and was concerned it would be low level, especially the food. When I saw the reviews of this property it looked like an upscale all inclusive and I was not disappointed. Everything from the staff, amenities, food, bars and activities was fabulous. This place is less than a year old and beautiful. Stayed at the preferred section and I could not have been more delighted. We were treated like royalty. There were lots of activities to enjoy and plenty of food and drink. The French restaurant was the best. The Italian, Capers. was the exception to the rule regarding the food quality but don't let that deter because there are lots of options. Don't waste your money on the spa. Like others have said walk across the street and get a 75 minute massage for $30.00 including tip. I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: I liked the deluxe preferred suite which had an ocean view and patio with Jacuzzi. The first floor r...

Me and my husband, and another couple just got back from a 10 day vacation to now amber, and all i can say is WOW! This place exceeded all my expectations of a 5 star resort. I don't even know where to begin, but from the moment we arrived till we left, we were treated with A++++ service. The resort is gorgeous! We arrived at noon, but were able to check into our room right away which was a bonus, we were on the 10th floor, and the view is just breathtaking. All the rooms in the whole resort are ocean view!! The beds are really comfortable and a nice jetted tub in the room as well. We ordered room service every morning, and ate on the balcony while hearing the waves crash in.

They have a really nice Gym, good equipment, not overly big, but big enough as it was never hard to get a treadmill or bike in the early morning, it is on the Secrets side.

We were torn between booking at Now Amber or Secrets, but went with Now Amber as the price was slightly less and kids don't bother us. The resorts are practically identical and you can use everything on the Secrets side as long as your an adult. We thought we would use the pools on the Secrets side, but we didn't need to, as we got such great service from our waiters at the pool bar that we always wanted to sit in the same spot, as to get our favourite waiters. Hosea was our favourite waiter! We've never had better service in my life than what he provided. He was constantly coming by, and would bring my husband his favourite drinks even when he hadn't ordered them! Hosea went above and beyond and made our trip so fun, as we got to know him throughout the week! Magal was another great server at the pool bar he was always coming by to make sure you had a drink in hand! They also brought us coconut ice cream whenever we asked :) The drinks here are amazing as well!! We mainly went to the buffet for lunch, as they had fabulous salads, and chicken and shrimp that was really good. We ate at the barefoot grill once as well, the burgers there were fabulous!

The pools here are really really nice, and its so nice that you can sit right by the infinity pool and have the ocean right there as well. We were lucky enough to see whales quite a few days, it was unreal!! One day there was dolphins right near the shore, that was probably the hi light of my trip, it was super cool!

We tried all the restaurants. Bordeaux was our favourite, we went there a few times, the salmon and lime shrimp were amazing! And my husband ate steak at almost every restaurant, and he said it was one of the best steaks he's ever had. We also loved the service we got at Bordeaux, Gill and Roberto were our servers every time, and they went above and beyond to make sure we had the best meal and service possible! By the end of our trip Gill was our great buddy, and we were sad to say goodbye to him, he was a fantastic waiter! As was Roberto!
The Japanese restaurant was phonemail as well, the food was soo good! The Sushi was to die for! and everything else was fabulous as well!
One day on the wkd, Jesus (one of the Japanese cooks) was at the pool serving sushi, and when i say at the pool i mean he was IN the pool and sushi was on a floating thing, we jumped in and had some sushi with Jesus, he was awesome and sooo friendly! We loved him as well! And the sushi was soooo good!

All in all the food was best food we've ever had at an all inclusive resort, every meal at every restaurant was fantastic! There was fresh seafood at every one, which i loved because i love seafood! and steak for my husband.

The Carnival Buffet hostesses' name was Nayela, and she was the most friendly person, we just loved her and her smile. she was always excited to see us, and always remembered us! She was a special one!

We loved the entertainment guys by the pool, they were super friendly and fun to goof off with, Ceaser was one of our favourites!

The Beach: The beach in front of this resort is very nice, the sand is fine and soft, although we did not go into the water, as it looked quite rocky in there. You cant walk super far down the beach in either direction, and the sand does get a bit rougher as you get further from the resort. This wasn't an issue for us as we were well aware of this before we went. But i did miss not having a beach that you could walk for miles along.

It was our first time in Puerto Vallarta, we wanted to try it because of the consistent weather you get there, 10 days of full sun, not a cloud in the sky, above 30 everyday, it was perfect!
We will definitely return to this resort and recommend it to anyone! What a great chain, we hope to try the Secrets in Huatulco sometime soon! Or any of the Now Amber's or Secrets, we are sold on them!!!

We miss seeing Hosea everyday! We hope to go back and see the all the mexican friends we made there again soon! They made it a wonderful vacation!!

Room Tip: We were on the 10th floor in the towers and the view was amazing!! I would try to get a higher floor...

This was our second vacation at a Now resort. Stayed at Now Sapphire last year and just returned from 5 nights at Now Amber. First I have to say booking through Apple Vacations it a must! We arrived at the airport and got in a car and went directly to Now Amber. Beautiful resort 15 mins from the airport!! We booked a Preferred club gardenview room but understood that all the rooms have somewhat of an oceanview because of how the rooms sit. We were upgraded to an Oceanview on the 7th floor anyway. Room was as beautiful as the resort and housekeeping was great, always clean and turn down service was awesome. We did find ourselves comparing the resort to our stay at Now Sapphire. The restaurants were nice, food decent but felt the food at Now Sapphire was better. We liked how Now Amber was smaller so less people but it felt as though the resort was understaffed. We felt bad for some of the waiters who were running their butts off to keep up with their tables. It was nice having the Secrets resort right next door, we were able to eat dinner at their restaurants as well. The pool bar was our favorite spot. Gilberto and Angel were our favorite bartenders. The nightly entertainment wasn't much, but we didn't mind. We did golf at both of the resorts where free greens fees were offered. You have to take a taxi to them as transportation is not included. It was about 10 mins to Marina Vallarta but don't even waste your time at this course if you enjoy golf, the course was not the greatest. The 2nd course Vista Vallarta was beautiful. We wished we had played this one each time instead. It was about 25mins from the hotel and $50 total for the taxi but worth it. We walked to the old downtown Puerto Vallarta via the beach and then took a taxi back. The boardwalk is a must see. We also went outside the resort as recommended by many other to get massages at the Healing Hands place and they were the best massages for only $25 a hour.

Room Tip: Most rooms have a view of the ocean but preferred club is the way to go.

We stayed at this resort March 1 - March 4. We had never been to Puerto Vallarta before and it is absolutely beautiful. We could only take a long weekend and it was not enough.

This resort is very close to the airport. We landed at 1:05 and were checked into the resort by 2:00. We did not check any bags. The food is good not excellent. We enjoyed the French restaurant, Bordeaux the most. The staff is wonderful. They bent over backwards to make sure you have a fabulous stay. Drinks were always full.

We were upgraded to an ocean view room because I mentioned we were there for my birthday. We were on the 10th floor, room 2054 and had a wonderful view of the ocean. We were able to watch the sunset from our balcony. We also saw whales on two occasions.

We stayed at Now which is the family side but had no issue going over to Secrets. It's real easy to just walk over through the lobby on the third floor. Our bellboy even mentioned that was the easiest way to get over. There were some families there, spring breakers, and many couples. Nothing was overly loud or crazy, just people having a good time.

We are already planning a week long trip back in the summer.

Room Tip: The higher floor of the room, the better the view of the ocean.
